Most of us carry smartphones in our pockets, ready to snap a photo at any moment. But what if we tried instead to paint the moments we aim to capture? How might that change our experience of being in a place? Plein Air Washington Artists visit regularly, practicing this slower form of creating a memory.

“I hiked the eastern Dolomites, Italy. My painting “Hiking the Granite Giants” was inspired by the jaw dropping Cadini Di Misurina ahead of me. Right out of the gate ( literally a gate), I wasn’t watching where I was walking and was the first one down. Glad our guide was ready with a first aid kit and bandaged my knee. The Magnuson Park Gallery
& Plein Air Washington Artists
are excited to present the
5th Annual Plein Air Views of Washington Exhibition

This juried show celebrates plein air painting, showcasing original works created on location.

Artists may submit up to two plein air paintings created in Washington State. Works must be recent (within two years), no larger than 11x14” (16x20” framed), and for sale. Accepted mediums include oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, and gouache.

We are excited to announce 4 multi-day paint outs from mountains to sea
We have published these now, so that you can go ahead plan your summer, and get accommodation. Camp sites and other accommodation are going fast, so don’t hesitate in booking these. In some cases, the best campground is already full. Don’t panic, register to be notified of cancellations and grab one when you are notified.
