What a way to spend a Sunday! 🎶☀️

Our August 2 Sunday Summer Concert Series was a resounding success, filling the Village Green with incredible music, dancing, and community spirit.

A huge thank you to Nick Drummond for opening the evening with an unforgettable solo set, and to Reposado for bringing infectious Afro-Latin grooves that had the crowd on its feet from start to finish.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who came out, sang along, danced, and made the evening so special. Events like these are a reminder of what makes Orcas Island such an extraordinary place. A community that comes together to celebrate live music and one another.

Special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Doe Bay Resort & Retreat, and to all of our supporters who make the Sunday Summer Concert Series possible.

We can’t wait to see you at the next concert! 🎷🌅🎵

“Charlie Porter isn’t just any trumpeter; he is a Grammy Award-winning musician, celebrated for his outstanding jazz trumpet contributions to the crossover album Songplay by classical opera star Joyce DiDonato. His classical and jazz credentials are among the most prestigious in the world:
He holds an undergraduate degree from The Juilliard School and a Master’s from the Manhattan School of Music. He studied at the Paris Conservatory as a Fulbright Scholar.

As a freshman at Juilliard, he won the school’s quadrennial Trumpet Concerto Competition in 1996. He took 2nd Place in the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition back-to-back in 1998 and 1999. He made history as the first musician ever to win 1st Prize in both the Classical Solo and Jazz divisions of the prestigious National Trumpet Competition (winning Classical in 1999 and Jazz in 2000)—a feat previously thought to be nearly impossible.

Today, he is recognized globally as a world-class composer and educator, boasting a massive following on YouTube and authoring award-winning trumpet method books.”

Yogalele is yoga with ukulele. Yogalele combines peaceful breathing and stretching with calm plucking and energizing strumming. We use the ukes to set the mood and pace for our breathing and as a prop, arm extender, or for grounding.

No experience necessary, suitable for all ages and levels, and you don’t even need a ukulele – non-players love the live music vibration while players felt closer to their instruments and their music.

Each session begins with a brief review of chords we will play, followed by a series of uke-accompanied asanas, some with sound, some more internalized. Yogalele works for any level of player as well as those who don’t play at all, Yogalele is truly for everyone.

Yogalele – breathe, stretch, strum
