The Rhode Island Children’s Chorus is growing, and we’d love to expand our network of talented singers, conductors, pianists, music educators, and college music/music education students who might be interested in paid opportunities with our ensembles—now or in the future.

*We are creating a roster of musicians we can contact as positions and other opportunities become available.* We are particularly interested in meeting potential Rehearsal Assistants—strong singers who enjoy working with young singers and who may be interested in growing into conducting roles with RICC over time.

We also often seek guest conductors for our affiliated ensemble, the Carillon Women’s Chorus.

Right now, we’re simply casting the net widely and hoping to get to know some wonderful local musicians before we need them!

We are thrilled to welcome TWO new pianists to our staff for the upcoming season! Please welcome Ms. Ilana, pianist for High School Honor Choir, and Mr. Noah, pianist for Smithfield Lyric Chorus. Read more about them below:

Pianist Ilana Joyce Cady connects audiences with authentic, creative musical experiences through performance, teaching, and collaboration.

She has performed at premier venues—including Seiji Ozawa Hall, the Koussevitzky Music Shed, Sanders Theatre at Harvard, and Mechanics Hall—and at Austria's Styriarte Festival. A prize-winner at the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano’s inaugural competition, Ilana also co-founded Table for Two | A Piano Duo, which tours programs highlighting music across the Americas.

Ilana holds faculty and collaborative positions at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, BalletRI (Principal Pianist), Cambridge Community Chorus, Dean College, Brown University, and the Longy School of Music. As a scholar, her recent research on performance attire for female pianists was featured at the 2025 Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters conference.

Ilana’s passion for choral music began at age 12, when she first sat down to accompany her church choir. She has been collaborating with and accompanying vocal ensembles ever since. Ilana has worked with the New England Advent Youth Choirs, Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs, Worcester Children’s Choir, University Singers (Andrews University & Ohio University), University Chorale (Andrews University), Massachusetts’s MMEA inagural SSAA choir (2026), Salisbury Singers, and South Lancaster Academy choirs. She is currently the collaborative pianist for the Cambridge Community Choirs, and is very excited to join the Rhode Island Children’s Chorus in the fall of 2026.

She holds degrees from Andrews University (B.M., summa cm laude), Longy School of Music
(M.M.), and Ohio University (M.M.). Ilana is also the founder and artistic director of the Free Concert Series in Lancaster, MA. Outside of music, she enjoys gardening dahlias and walking her beagle, Ivy Ives, with her husband.

Noah Klein is currently the Associate Director of Music at Grace Episcopal Church in Providence. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and a Masters degree from the Yale School of Music. Noah has been the accompanist for the Mystic River Chorale, the Greater New Haven Community Chorus, as well as for many singers and choirs at the Yale School of Music.

SEEKING REHEARSAL ASSISTANTS

We are looking for rehearsal assistants across several of our locations and groups! $40 per rehearsal. This is an ideal position for college music education majors and emerging choral leaders.

Position Openings: (you're welcome to apply to one or more!)

- Lincoln (Lincoln Middle School) — Mondays
Training Chorus (grades 2–4): 4:45–6:00pm
Lyric Chorus (grades 5–8): 5:00–6:15pm

- Smithfield (Smithfield Senior Center) — Thursdays
Training Chorus (grades 2–4): 4:45–6:00pm

- East Providence (RI Philharmonic Music School) — Tuesdays
Lyric Chorus (grades 5–8): 5:00–6:15pm

Staff members arrive 30 minutes early to help set up the room and greet students. Our 24th season begins in September.

What you'll do: Serve as a strong vocal leader and exemplar of head tone singing, help lead your section during rehearsal, take attendance, distribute music, and help students feel seen, known, and valued.

Requirements: Rehearsal assistants must learn their music quickly in order to help lead in the beginning weeks; be responsible, respectful, kind, outgoing, and friendly with students and a great and supportive colleague to fellow RICC staff. All RICC staff members must complete a background check.

We are deeply saddened to share the news that Rich Dobosz, father of one of our Training Chorus members, passed away suddenly. Rich was a beloved member of his community and cherished his son, Teddy. For those who are so inclined, there is a Go Fund Me page to support Teddy and his Mom.

We hope everyone is having an awesome summer! Some of our students volunteered today at the Smithfield Senior Center, sharing carols for their Christmas in July party. It was truly heartwarming to sing with the seniors, and we look forward to more opportunities in December!

KNOW A FRIENDLY PIANIST? (Please share!)
We are looking for a pianist in the northern RI area to accompany our Smithfield Lyric Chorus rehearsals! $75 for a 75-min rehearsal.

Details: Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, from 5:00-6:15 pm. The season begins in September.

Hello, RICC Community! We are writing today with a request for those of you who have tech connections. We are looking to hire a company or (no-code) developer to create a chorus management dashboard for our chorus. A fully functional prototype has already been created. We just need someone who can connect it to our existing Google Sheets data, set up a secure staff login, and add a few additional features including a rehearsal and performance calendar, a season archive, an audition queue that automatically generates and sends a pre-written email with a private Calendly scheduling link to families who are offered an audition, and a waitlist system that tracks available spots. The work is well-defined, the hard part is already done, and we need it completed within 2 weeks. The full project brief can be viewed at the link below. WELCOME, MISS JULES!

We are thrilled to welcome JULIANNE FOURNIER to the RICC Teaching Staff, where she will lead the Lyric Chorus at our East Providence location!

Julianne’s story is especially meaningful to us—she began singing with the Rhode Island Children’s Chorus and Dr. Noel at just seven years old and has been immersed in choral music ever since. Now, she returns to RICC as a teacher, bringing her journey full circle.

A classically-trained soprano and exceptional music educator, Julianne currently teaches elementary music in Foxborough Public Schools. She also maintains a private voice studio and teaches through the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education (BIAAE).

As a performer, Julianne is currently a member of the Providence Singers and has sung with Westminster Kantorei, the Jubilee Singers, Westminster Symphonic Choir, and the Grammy-nominated Williamson Voices.

She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (voice) from Westminster Choir College and a Master of Music Education with an autism concentration from Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

With heartfelt gratitude, we share that Miss Meagan will be stepping down from her role as a conductor with the Rhode Island Children’s Chorus due to increased schedule demands.

Meagan has been a warm, joyful, and deeply loved presence in RICC. Her ability to connect with our singers and families, her sense of fun, and her genuine care for each child have left a lasting mark on RICC. We are so grateful for the energy and joy she's brought to the chorus.

Please join us in thanking Meagan for all she has given and in wishing her and her family all the very best in this next chapter. She will always be a part of the RICC family and has offered to serve as a sub when we need it, so you may be seeing her again! :-)
