Due to expected inclement weather, we have rescheduled our drop-off time to MONDAY 12/26 AND TUESDAY 12/27 from 4PM-7PM

There will be NO DROP-OFF ON FRIDAY 12/23.

Please read below:

- This exhibit is meant to CELEBRATE Black culture, not highlight our struggle. We are more than our trials and tribulations.

- No application required for submission. The work just has to fit the theme.

- If your work is larger than 24x36, limit your entries to 3. If smaller than this, you may show up to 5 pieces.

- No depictions of nudity, s*x, drugs, or violence. This is a multi-use facility that we rent out to a number of individuals and organizations from in and around Hartford.

- We will not accept artwork after 12/27.

I had another opportunity to view the 30 Americans Exhibit at yesterday. This time I was joined by about 50 students from the CREC IMPACT School. Thank you for setting this up. We had a great discussion about the exhibit and my experience as an professional artist.

This has probably been visit number 6 or 7 to this exhibit. You have a little under 2 weeks left to view it.

IDK what's more difficult, actually styling a little girl's hair or painting it realistically on canvas. What I do know is when I put these brushes down tonight and call this painting done, you gonna want prints for your home. I'm enjoying this challenge and I'm about to have fun painting this hair texture. I put these 3 panels together last night and it looked so cool.

I've been a part of since the first back to school greeting 7 years ago. It all started with a Facebook post and a bunch of people sharing it around. Within a few days and had 100+ men outside of MLK school lined up to greet the students and cheer them on as they start their first day back to school.

I joined the planning team which has included about 8-12 guys over the years- all of whom withba strong desire to do something good in the community. We've gone into the schools and mentored 8th grade students, hosted trunk or treat events for Halloween and hosted an annual African and African American History Bee for years. My involvement on this committee has certainly made me a better person and I'm happy to say that after a small hiatus due to the pandemic, we are back and ready to do it all over again.

These images were shot yesterday by at the school where it all began. He was actually my ride to the first greeting 7 years ago. My car was in the shop and had he not been nice enough to pick me up that morning 7 years ago, I would have missed an event that led to me connecting with this group of guys who continue to have a very positive influence on my life.

I had fun teaching my drawing workshop today at . That's 2 down and 1 more to go. I have really enjoyed this experience and hope they call me back for more in the fall or winter.

Observational drawing in the galleries has been a great challenge for the participants. Some are teachers. Some are hobbyists. Some are picking up the pencil for the first time in years. Today, we had a first timer who did very well learning perspective.
