Of course I forgot some stuff. It bleeds into my mind and the guilt settles in. Not good with guilt. Some things I can't mention but others I can. Lets start with Chris (sp?) Kohrs from the Milk Run. She bought a good amount of our t-shirts and had her staff wear them at the Milk Run. Didn't change until the big fest started. Appropriate and fair. Always with a smile. Husband and wife met up with me in Key West at the Green Parrot some years back. Fun.

Karl, the social and physical co-leader of the band with a heart of just cooked buttered corn on the cob and always a loud ass greeting. There are people in that town that greet me by name because of Karl! I enjoy it and have breakfast with him almost everyday.

Our morning coffee is delivered by Karl or one of his staff. Usually there by 6am and often earlier. Karl supplies the ice at the farmhouse. We've gone by the honor system since day one. The majority of the time the till works well. But its easy to balance the few shortfalls. The Foxhole long ago decided to not share in ice profits. I mean, ice that close? Manna from heaven!

When the Vickery's towing truck died Karl extended the use of one of his farm trucks. When does this ever happen? And he did it with a smile!

Karl stores and moves my camper to the two sites. And he smiles doing it! When the Health Department demanded that I have a towing plan in case of inclement weather (as we've have) Karl got on the phone and implemented his huge truck and farm tractors solution. That shut 'em up! We can't exist without this guy. And he never runs out of my beer. Even the Bait Shop has slipped up on that once in a while. But, hey, I'm very forgiving. THANK YOU MILK RUN!

Lets talk about the Allen (Allan) family soon. Oh yeah, Most of my phone calls to Karl were at a little after 5am. You can imagine how sharp we were.

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!

Can't forget Chris Stricker. Picked up the trash, collected some tips for doing so. This doesn't just happen at other pickin' parties. Hats off to this individual. Made life so much more bearable. Will be glad to see him come back! Pretty smart fella by the way!

1800 miles in the books. Much disappointment at home. I'll deal with it. Probably post something Foxhole worthy here from time to time just to stir the pot. Carry on. And, yes, its hot!

Pretty damn good summer! In a few hours I'm on the road south. If I see something interesting or have a novel thought I'll post from my motel/hotel rooms. I have plenty to do when I get home on top of keeping an eye open for hurricanes. Thanks to everyone!

Tuesday. Podunk time at some point. Bring good cheer.

Some of you will remember that the water at Catskill Creek was barely a dribble and not worth the effort to soak the bottoms of your feet in. I can tell you now that it is a swirling gushing maelstrom that would immediately put your life in danger. The area got almost 12 inches of rain in a 48 hour period. We are fortunate to be gone from the area. Even in Brookfield, Connecticut we got over 4 inches of rain and the streams are over their banks. AND its raining again! Sometime after 2 Malin and I will hit the local steak house for a little celebratory lunch (indoors) and discuss the upcoming Podunk exercise and get together.

I'm pretty sure that Jim Tater and I will put together a few meals from his flat grill amongst our other endeavors. Trying to put together a group photo idea which may briefly entertain us in some way and maybe find its way onto a Foxhole calendar. Looking forward to hijinks, fun, music and laughter. With fewer injuries. Also looking forward to seeing the Gibson Brothers.

Two days after this adventure is completed I intend to be on Interstate 81 for the downhill run back to the Keys. Since its all downhill I expect to use less gas on the journey. I will spend two nights in separate motels along the way. I will accept nothing less than a Best Western! Motels with numbers on them are usually quite filthy and used as welfare housing to a degree. I will absolutely NOT stop to eat at a McDonald's or Burger King. I WILL stop at a Buckees or two or other major truck stops because of the many varied and unusual products they sell that you don't usually see. The best part of the journey is always the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountain geologics. NOT going through Atlanta is a must. Florida is boring until I get to the Everglades on the western side of the state. Lots of peace on rt. 41. Then there's the 42 bridges on the Overseas Hiway. Can't beat that.

It will be overwhelmingly hot when I get home. I expect my yard to be full of downed palm fronds and coconuts. The weeds will be high and my beautiful Poincianna tree will need a serious trim. Half my potted plants will be dead from lack of watering despite the promises of friends to water them. You can only reasonably expect so much. So, there will be much to do.

After much unpacking it will be time for a brew down to my beloved bait shop. Back to the old routine. And make preparations for visitors during Fantasy Fest! Life does NOT suck! Just a few bumps and bruises along the way. Great summer! Thanks for that.

Post Foxhole: Leaving Brookfield this morning to hit my credit union in Middletown. Haven't stepped foot in there for 19 years. Then to the marina in Deep River to visit my friend on his boat. I'll hit a couple of antique/junk shops, Rhode Island Job Lot and finally spend a few quick hours at Mohegan Sun. Will not take a debit or credit card inside. Probably find a good motel on the coastline near Old Saybrook. Return to Brookfield tomorrow or Sunday. Prepare for Podunk and my return journey to Key West. In my new car. Still feeling great about Foxhole. Thanks to all! And especially Jay. Shine on!

Best Foxhole ever! Best people, best weather. Everything reminded me of a Norman Rockwell painting. Thanks to everyone for the good memories.
