There isn't much we can add to all that's been said with the passing of Parthenon Huxley, but for the six-degrees of separation. For once upon a time in Carrboro, long before ELO and more, there was a hot band called The Dads, pictured below before a gig at The Cat's Cradle 45-years ago!

Left to right: Zoe Lagergren (RIP), Scott Swartzwelder, P-Hux, and Matt Barrett.

Today we remember the birthday of our dear friend Bruce Egan, bassist and booker for Carrboro's own Hwy 54 band, whom we lost in 2024, six days before his 72nd birthday.

Here are a few of our favorite pix from Bruce's gig at AppleChill in 2007. Better days. This is how we want to remember him.

We miss you, brother. Happy birthday.

Our heart goes out to the family of our dearest friend and musical collaborator Louis Ramos, who passed shortly after his 78th birthday. Lou was a brilliant Latin percussionist whose contributions breathed soul and light into a number of projects, most recently, Derek Bee's (aka "deciBel Grooves") cover of "Unforgettable".
Brother Lou, we will remember you for your warm smile, your big heart, and your deep groove. Much love.

Hi All,
This showed up in my INBOX this morning, and I have since installed and tested it on my DAW PC...
Audio archive curation is an ongoing process for me. (The struggle is real.) And I think TASCAM Audio File Manager may be the audio KILLER APP I've been needing for years!
The download is free (to run the app, you'll need to create a TASCAM ID if you don't already have one).

A free software which offers a wealth of features complimentary to TASCAM recording products. The Audio File Manger enables users to speedily confirm the content of recorded material while helping to organize their recordings and aid in the process of making a smooth transition to the next step in t...

Welp, we're just getting started, so now's a good time to get in on the ground floor (from there, it's up the stairs and to the left). Say 'hi'.

I've lost my dear friend and musical partner Dayna Wittman of WestStreet Recording (and former bassist of the Raleigh Band, The Grateful Dads).

We met about 15 years ago and I immediately recognized him to be a stubborn pain in the ass, and he dutifully acknowledged me as a right as***le. We became more like brothers than friends.

It was because of his passion for the music that we proceeded to make a LOT of good music together. I coaxed him into the digital realm. He infuriated and baffled me at every turn, and I learned more from him about recording than I could have ever learned from a book, or class, or youtube video.

Songwriting has always been a very personal, private experience for me, still, Dayna is (was) the only artist I've ever sat down with to intentionally write a song, and we'd hammered out a couple satisfying bangers together.

We still got together and worked every week, even after health issues knocked at his door. I called him my brother and told him I loved him at the end of every session.

I am so grateful for the time we had together. Thanks, brother, I love you. You did a good job.

If you remember Dayna Wittman, perhaps from his analog studio days in the 80s in Raleigh, I hope you'll share a few stories.
