🏳️‍⚧️🌈📣 Happy Pride y'all! We are running back our all-q***r, all-local comedy showcase at the Black Heron Lounge this year in celebration of all the incredible LGBTQIA+ comedy writers we have in our small area.

♥️ This showcase moving forward will honor our beautiful late friends Emma Sims and Shelby Campbell; both staunch allies and respective members of the q***r community in Durango. The show will also raise money for the Taos Humane Society, of which Emma had recently adopted her first pup before passing. ♥️

Before we get too sappy (we love you girls!) -- ‼️🪩 a groovy after-party with the high energy sounds of DJ KrisLove .music will follow the showcase.

🪭🎶Just wanna dance? No worries! You can get into the after-party without a comedy ticket.

⏩ Zak Toscani is a standup comedian and writer based on the West Coast. Known for his originality, vulnerability, and sharp perspective, Zak’s comedy has taken him from the Pacific Northwest to international stages. He's performed at major festivals like Bumbershoot, Bridgetown, and High Plains, and he's the most frequent guest on the beloved podcast All Fantasy Everything. Zak has also written for Comedy Central, with his work featured in TIME, The AV Club, Buzzfeed, Vice, and more.

✨ Local Feature this May! 🌞🎤 A favorite in the Four Corners, will be doing a special extended set at the May 28!

ℹ️ Andrea is a hilarious comedian, herbalist, and co-founder of the Durango Comedy productions. She blends clever writing & sharp jokes to talk about loving, healing, and dealing with your own body. After coming back from performing a month-long residency in New York City, she has come back to Durango ready to OWN the stage with some material she's been cooking up.

We can't wait to have her mix of layered writing + honest comedy at the Black Heron this May!

ℹ️ If you've been doing standup for a while and find yourself drawn to longer-form material, personal narratives, or storytelling standup comedians, this is your workshop. We'll look at how storytelling structure can make your standup sharper, funnier, and more memorable (without turning it into a TED talk).

ℹ️ There's often a gap between how we see ourselves as comics and how an audience reads us, and identifying and writing to that gap is often where some really funny material can emerge. You'll bring in five minutes of your best material, defined as: sets that feel most like you, that you're proud of, your strongest material, OR that you want to understand better.

ℹ️ Never done standup before? Perfect. This is exactly where you start. Standup 101 is a four-hour introductory workshop for anyone who has ever thought "I could do that" while watching a comedian. No experience necessary…just show up! :)

ℹ️ Some of the funniest material comes from the hardest places. Grief, illness, family, failure…Traumedy is a workshop for comics who want to explore difficult personal topics through a comedic lens. We'll spend time learning how to approach heavy material with craft and intention.
