The 2022 ✨Avant-garde Section Winner ✨ is Documental by Australian designer Bethany Cordwell.

Documental is a physical embodiment of how Bethany experienced and coped with isolation during the pandemic. She found herself escaping through art, fashion, and creativity. Over 55,000 tear-shaped scales were hand-cut, layered and stitched to create this garment.

Congratulations, Bethany!

The 2022 🏆 Supreme WOW Award Runner-up and Aotearoa Section Winner 🏆 is Fera Dei by New Zealand designers Fifi Colston and Bruce Mahalski.

Bruce Mahalski created the exquisite bone sculpture on a Worbla base then Fifi completed the stunning fabric work.

The fabric design was created using photos from Bruce’s archive of bones, and Central Otago landscape and rabbit holes from Fifi’s collection of imagery.

Congratulations!
