Hello photo fans! Long time no see 😁This is a good news/ bad news situation. Bad news for me, my landlord is raising the rent by $475 on June 1st. SO, I'm stuck scrambling to find a new apartment that isn't disgusting, but I can afford. I'm going to list all the photos I have hanging in my apartment for sale here. Everything is sold as-is, some frames are a bit dinged up from being hauled to shows.
Each photo will have a number, title and description. Comment on the one you want, then message me for details. I accept Venmo -Pranger-1 and PayPal This is just the first batch, so stay tuned!

Apologies for my absence this past month, I've really been struggling. I've been having a very hard time trying to put my feelings into words, so please bear with me. I've never felt particularly welcome or at home here in the US, despite having been born and lived my entire life here. Last month, the voters in this country made it abundantly clear to me that I am NOT welcome here. It's impossible for me to thrive here as a second class citizen and I'm not about to wait and see how it will be in third class. I have come to the conclusion that in order to live my 'best life', I need to leave this country. I don't have a timeline yet, but I am looking at jobs abroad. With all this going on, it's impossible to chat weekly about my art. I will return at some point, but I don't know when. Thanks for sticking with me and liking my art.

Happy Halloween photo fans! 🥸🎃 I hope you're keeping it spooky out there! The weather has been on the warm side, I wore shorts to work earlier this week, but now they're predicting possible snow today 😱 I'm not ready for fall to be over, I'm still loving crunchy leaves, apple and pumpkin everything. That's much too quick of a pivot into winter, it takes time to re-acclimate to the cold in fall.

I tried to keep a spooky theme going with this week's photo from 2017 in Jay Cooke State Park. That turned out to be a tall order, I don't really have any scary photos. I chose this one because I felt that the light gives it an ethereal quality. The leaves in the center almost seem to glow, while the pine trees further back recede into gloomy darkness. Have a spooktacular Halloween!

Happy Thursday photo fans! After a warm weekend and start to the week, it's now dropped 20° and feeling more like fall. We got a little rain earlier in the week, but the fire danger remains relatively high across the region. We've had a couple of light frosts so far, but not a killing frost so many plants continue to hang on. I'm ready to hang up my shorts for the year and finally move on to fall, it smelled SO GOOD when we got that rain! It seems that trees have either completely dropped their leaves, or seem to be just starting. Since I don't have a yard, and don't have to rake leaves, I quite enjoy them crunching underfoot. That satisfying crunch is the last thing they give us before returning to the soil.

Choosing a theme was easy this week, my birthday is Saturday, so I chose from photos taken between the 25th & 27th of October. Not many leaves generally remain by late October, so it can be a little harder to find the beauty. Hopefully you can see the beauty in these. 😁

Happy Thursday photo fans! We finally got a bit of rain over the weekend, otherwise it's been lovely; although I could do without having to scrape frost off my windshield in the morning! Strong winds have stripped a lot of the leaves, but those that remain are still quite beautiful.

It was so hard to choose a photo from all my lovely October leaves over the years! I decided go with a mushroom theme this week. These are from 2017 & 18, hiking the dog walking trail at a highway rest stop and a state park respectively. This fall has been so dry, I've barely seen any mushrooms. Normally, fall is rather wet and therefore cloudy. Clouds have their ups and downs, photographically speaking. They scatter the sunlight, illuminating the scene evenly. But, that light is also rather flat, you don't get the bright highlights and dark shadows that help give depth and really make a photo 'pop'. One solution is simply to get up close to your subject, rather than trying to shoot a wide vista. I was able to catch a little highlight on the bottom, more traditionally shaped mushroom. The smooth, shiny surface helps as well; the top mushroom has a much softer appearance with no shine to catch the light.

Happy Thursday photo fans! The lovely crisp fall temps have moved in to stay it seems, although we still haven't gotten any rain. I also missed the recent auroral displays, due to them occurring on weeknights. On that front, the space weather forecast is looking promising for tonight and tomorrow, but we'll just have to wait and see. Leaves on the north shore are just about at peak, and the view of Duluth's hillside as you cross over from Superior is a spectacular riot of color.

It's difficult to get a good fall colors shot, even with favorable lighting, it's never as vibrant as it is in person. In this shot from mid/late October 2015, I opted to employ a lens flare to help highlight the foreground and wash out the background. One way to enhance the vibrance of the leaves is to shoot with the sun shining through them. You really see the glow in the aspen leaves on the right/ center. The bright orange-yellow leaves in the foreground help to balance out the composition and create a diagonal leading line through the photo from bottom left to top right. As a general rule, you don't want to center your subject in the frame; in this case however, the sun isn't the subject. By positioning the sun so it's mostly behind the horizon, you get the lens flare- most obvious here in the red half circle through the leaves. This is caused by the refraction of light through the layers of glass in the camera's lens.

Happy Thursday photo fans! How is it October ALREADY?! I swear it was July a second ago... Thankfully, the temps seem to have finally gotten the message and it's been pleasantly cool this week. Rain has not been forthcoming however, leading to a high possibility of wildfires. Low humidity and high, gusty winds are increasing the risk; unfortunately the forecast remains dry with only a slight chance of sprinkles on Saturday. Further up the shore, the colors are nearing their peak. Up close, the city is still fairly green, but from a distance as you cross one of the bridges from Wisconsin, the hillside is rapidly turning here too.

This week's photo throws back to early October of 2013 on one of Wisconsin's many Long Lakes. I love the composition and color palette of this photo. The warm afternoon light adds a wonderful glow to the scene. The mottled reflections on the water are reminiscent of Monet's "Waterlilies"; the reflections slightly fuzzy despite the calm water broken by lily pads. The three ducks roosting on a partially submerged log lend a sense of calm relaxation. Even the colors balance out, the warm red and yellows of fall contrasting with the soft green algae clinging to the water's edge.

Happy Thursday photo fans! Where has the month gone?! Morning temps have been deliciously crisp, but it's still feeling distinctly summery during the day. Is it just me, or do warm fall flavors just not quite hit the same at 70° as they do at 50°? The temps haven't quelled my thirst for all things pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon, maybe just toned them down a bit. They've had caramel apples at the grocery store for a couple of weeks, and thus far I've successfully resisted them.

I had to drive up north a ways yesterday for work, and the fall colors are definitely progressing though it's still pretty green in town. This week's photo comes from late September 2020, in Jay Cooke State Park. Shooting fall colors is rather frustrating, the leaves never quite look as bright and magical on paper (or screen) as they do in person. I don't know what kind of plant this is, but it's quite hardy, growing among the rocks at the edge of the St. Louis River. Somehow, it seems to encompass all the glorious fall colors in one small plant.

Happy Thursday photo fans! The ungodly summer heat has returned, I'm ready for rainy days and cool breezes! Hopefully, this will be the last of it and things will cool down and stay that way. I'm going to a chili cook-off in a couple of weeks and it had BETTER have cooled off by then.

In honor of this week's full moon and partial lunar eclipse, I chose these super moon eclipse photos from September 2015. Thankfully it was clear that night, or at least clear enough to enjoy the eclipse. We had clouds this week, so I didn't even see the full moon. Apparently, I missed out on some aurora action earlier in the week as well. But, with the bright moon getting good aurora pics would've been quite a challenge. Not worth the hassle on a week night 😂 Hopefully if you missed this eclipse, you'll be able to catch the next one.
