💙 Volunteer Spotlight 💙

And just like that, we've reached the final Volunteer Spotlight! The Dover Greek Festival is a family tradition, so it feels especially fitting to close our Volunteer Spotlight series with a mother and daughter who volunteer together every year!

Meet Sharon Lampros and Elene Boudreau—our mother-daughter festival duo.
Sharon serves as our Volunteer Coordinator, tirelessly organizing, scheduling, recruiting, reminding, following up, and generally making sure there are actual humans assigned to all the jobs that need doing.

Her daughter, Elene, is our Social Media Coordinator, responsible for sharing festival news, creating graphics, highlighting volunteers, and making endless posts reminding everyone that THE FESTIVAL IS COMING. 😂

What does the Dover Greek Festival mean to you?
Sharon: It provides important financial support for our church and helps sustain its ministries and future. It gives me the opportunity to work alongside and build stronger relationships with fellow members of our parish. And it allows me to reconnect with friends and familiar faces from past festivals and enjoy visiting with members of the broader community.
Elene: The Dover Greek festival gives us an opportunity to celebrate and share our Greek culture with the greater Seacoast community.

Where can we find you during the Greek Festival?
Sharon: Floating everywhere to check on volunteers with home base being the Greek Market
Elene: The Greek Marketplace! Come say hi and check us out, maybe you’ll take a little piece of Greece home with you in your pocket!

If you could tell someone one reason they should visit the Dover Greek Festival, what would it be?
Sharon: The amazing food and the friendliness of the our communtity.
Elene: Even if you’ve never been before, it’s never too late to enjoy your first Greek Festival! You don’t have to speak Greek - or even be Greek – to enjoy our delicious food, homemade pastries, and the festive atmosphere!

One final lightning round!
Favorite Festival Food? Sharon: Lamb Shank Elene: Spanakopita
Favorite Festival Pastry? Both, unanimously: Pasta Flora
Baklava or loukoumades? Sharon: Loukoumathes Elene: Loukoumathes… with some baklava pieces on top!

🇬🇷 THE FESTIVAL STARTS TOMORROW! 🇬🇷

We’re in the home stretch!

Our final cooking sessions yesterday included two very different favorites: sweet Halvah Tou Fournou and savory stuffed peppers.

Halvah Tou Fournou is a traditional Greek baked farina cake dessert, filled with warm spices and drizzled with a honey syrup. And after finishing all that sweetness, our volunteers were busy preparing stuffed peppers—a hearty Greek favorite that takes plenty of hands to get ready for the Festival crowd.

A huge thank you to everyone who has spent countless hours in our kitchen over the past few weeks. From our first Pastitsio cooking session to last weekend's Baklava & Spanakopita marathon, to this week's final round of cooking, you have baked, stirred, chopped, stuffed, folded, and worked your way through an incredible amount of food. ❤️

And now… the waiting is almost over!

🚗 PARKING INFORMATION FOR THE DOVER GREEK FESTIVAL 🇬🇷

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Dover Greek Festival! As you make your plans to join us, please take a moment to look over our parking map and pay close attention to where you can - and cannot - park.

A few important reminders:

🚫 Please do not create your own parking spaces. If an area is not marked for parking, please don’t park there—even if it looks like there is room.

🚫 There is NO PARKING along the right side of the Festival driveway. We need to keep this area clear to allow two-way traffic and maintain access for emergency vehicles.

🚫 Please do not park along Long Hill Road near the Festival entrance. Keeping this area clear is essential for the safety of pedestrians, vehicles, and everyone entering and leaving the Festival.

🌲 Yes, there is additional parking in the wooded lot!
There is parking available in the wooded area off the side of the Festival grounds. However, please use your best judgment when deciding whether this area is right for you and your vehicle. Depending on weather and ground conditions, it may not be suitable for every vehicle or every driver. If you’re not comfortable with the terrain, please choose another parking area.

And don't worry… if you park here, we promise you will NOT be eaten by a bear. 🐻😂
(We make no promises about how much Greek food you’ll eat.)

👮 Please follow the directions of our parking volunteers and any police or posted signage. Parking arrangements may change during the Festival based on traffic and safety conditions.

📍 The map below is provided as a general guide only and is not to scale. Parking locations and traffic patterns may be adjusted as needed.

We know parking can sometimes be a little tricky at a busy Festival, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation. Following the signs and the guidance of our volunteers helps us keep traffic moving, our neighbors' driveways clear, and the Festival safe and accessible for everyone. 💙

Thank you for helping us make a great weekend even better!

We May Have Caused an Apricot Jam Shortage. 😂🍑

Our incredible Festival volunteers have been busy making Pasta Flora, a traditional Greek jam-filled tart with a buttery, crumbly crust and plenty of sweet apricot goodness.

And by “plenty,” we mean A LOT.

If any of you have been looking for apricot jam at Market Basket lately… now you know why you can’t find any. 😂

A huge thank you to everyone who spent their time making these delicious treats for the Festival. Your hard work, good humor, and willingness to turn an alarming amount of apricot jam into dessert are very much appreciated. ❤️

Only three - 3!- days to go!

At last year’s Dover Greek Festival, we served 2500 pieces of Baklava, and almost 1,000 pieces of Spanakopita.

Let those numbers sink in for a moment. These two items are the Festival MVPS (Most Valuable Pastries).

And when you’re preparing homemade Baklava AND Spanakopita for the Dover Greek Festival in a single weekend, “a little baking session” doesn’t quite cover it. This is not a cooking session. This is an endurance event. 💪🇬🇷 This weekend, our incredible volunteers tackled the Baklava & Spanakopita marathon!

From preparing the spinach and feta filling to carefully folding countless layers of phyllo for Spanakopita, then moving on to layer after layer of buttery phyllo, walnuts, cinnamon, and syrup for Baklava… there’s no shortage of work to be done!

It takes a lot of hands, a lot of time, and a whole lot of love to prepare these homemade Greek favorites for thousands of Festival guests.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and powered through this marathon session. ❤️ Our Festival simply wouldn’t happen without you!

And all that hard work means one thing for you…

There will be Baklava. There will be Spanakopita. And there will be plenty of both! 😍

We’re getting closer! 🇬🇷

There seems to be a bit of a rivalry brewing between our Koulourakia and Kourambiethes baking teams. 👀🍪

Kourambiethes said: “We see your 1,528 Koulourakia… but we can do more.”

And they weren’t bluffing. 😂

Our incredible volunteers didn’t just make more Kourambiethes (a total of 1,637 in fact)... they made TWO varieties of these traditional Greek almond shortbread cookies — one with nuts and one without — all finished with that glorious blanket of powdered sugar we know and love. 🤍

A huge thank you to the amazing volunteers who gave their time, energy, and baking skills to make all of this possible. You are the reason we can do this! ❤️

And yes… before you ask: we made enough for you to enjoy some at the Festival. 😉

The cookie rivalry may be getting serious, but the real winners are going to be the people who get to eat them. 😏🍪
