Jazz is alive at DSU! 🎷

The DSU Jazz Combo played at the Schwartz Theater in downtown Dover for the Capitol Jazz Showcase, and these students did an amazing job! Huge shoutout to student musicians Darren Clark on trumpet, Jayden Satchell on alto sax, Kobe Bailey on tenor sax, Malachi Murphy on drums, and Zuri Brown on piano!

Special thanks to faculty leads Dr. White (director), Dr. Wong, and Professor Adkins for sharing the stage with these students.

It’s National Arts in Education Week in Delaware!

Thank you to Governor Matt Meyer for officially proclaiming September 13-19, 2026, as National Arts in Education Week in the First State.

As the Governor’s proclamation recognizes, arts education strengthens creativity, critical thinking, communication, confidence, and collaboration while helping students develop skills that carry into the classroom, the workplace, and their communities.

The Delaware Division of the Arts is proud to work alongside educators, teaching artists, schools, cultural organizations, libraries, museums, and community partners to expand meaningful arts learning opportunities for students across our state.

This week, we celebrate the educators and organizations making arts education possible - and reaffirm the importance of ensuring every Delaware student has the opportunity to learn, create, and grow through the arts.

It’s National Arts in Education Week — DMEA along with Americans for the Arts, continues to advocate for furthering access and opportunities for ALL students not just in Delaware, but across this country.

This week, we’re calling on Congress to fully fund arts education's five federal funding streams, maintain funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and protect access to the arts for every student in every community, from preK-12 through higher education. 🎨

Arts education shapes creative thinkers, strengthens communities & economies, and opens doors for the next generation!

🎺 A newly proposed tariff on brass-wind instruments and accessories could make it even harder for music programs and families to afford the instruments students need.

The Annual Clifford Brown Jazz Festival Kicks off on in Wilmington Sunday! Don’t miss out on this amazing celebration and stunning performances!

The 39th Annual Clifford Brown Jazz Festival kicks off this Sunday, August 2, bringing seven days of incredible live music to Rodney Square through Saturday, August 8.

As part of Wilmington's DE250 celebration, this year's festival expands into a week-long event featuring an outstanding lineup of internationally acclaimed performers, including Marcus Miller, Ledisi, KES the Band, Nicholas Payton, Jonathan Butler, and Sheila E. & the E-Train, along with talented local and regional artists.

In addition to unforgettable performances, festivalgoers can enjoy food trucks, merchandise vendors, live painting, and the Jersey Surf Mobile Music Lab offering interactive musical experiences for all ages before each Main Stage performance.

Admission is FREE, so bring a lawn chair or blanket, gather your family and friends, and join us in celebrating the legacy of Wilmington's own Clifford Brown.
