Some before pics of coral and a year later now. The toad stool coral on left was about the size of half dollar when I first got it. Now, it is the size of a dinner plate. The mushroom corals were only two... an orange disk and a Yuma mushroom. Now the entire rock is covered

90 gallon reef tank is coming along. I still need a few more coral in it. I can't wait until they all grow out covering rock work and looking like a reef.

I went to the coral frag swap meet in Sterling Hts Sunday and scored big. Can't believe how good and hiw cheap some of the coral there was. A lot of local hobbyist raise them, then sell them so they are all aquacultured in aquariums and never taken out of the ocean reefs. There are even some coral farms that raise corals then put them into the ocean reefs to help reestablish damage that has been done by us years ago. I try to never buy wild harvested coral unless it is really common in the ocean and no chance of damaging the natural reefs. The same with my fish. The corals Sunday I got for a fra tion of the price they normally sell for online or in local fish shops. I got a nice hammer coral for 20 bucks. Normally I have seen them the same size for over $100.00. Same with the others.

My 55-gallon Cherry Shrimp tank has taken off now. I have loads of baby shrimp in there. Local pet shop wants to buy them, but I need them to start breeding more so I can keep the stock up. They are even hitching a ride on the back k of the snail. πŸ˜†πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Cindy agreed to let me set up a nice reef tank upstairs since her sister said it would look nice. πŸ˜†πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ thanks Suzy... πŸ˜† I am going to put up either a 75 or 90 gallon. I need to make a nice stand that looks like a nice piece of furniture for it first. Then, I can think more about the tank. I am planning on a 30 gallon sump filter under the tank in the cabinet portion of the stand. I am leaning more to a 75 gallon tank and the 75 gallons plus the 30 gallon sump will give me over 100 gallon water capacity. Water capacity is always something to think about in case of power failure or something. The more water the longer it takes for things to go bad in it before you notice it or can fix it. I don't want to lose a lot of nice corals because water temp dropped to fast. I need to build the sump tank as well. It all takes time and when doing a reef, patients is a virtue if you want it done right. I currently have a 55 gallon in basement all cycled and ready to use as a quarantine and hold tank for coral frags and fish. I have some dry reef rock soaking in it now to bring it to life. Yes rock can be live and living. πŸ˜†πŸ€£ my small sump for the 55 is done and running now with a refugium to help with algea control in main tank. I plan on d**g the same in big tank when building it.

I have had a ton of question asking me a out the cycling set up of new fish tanks. Lots of confusion about it. I am in the process of editing a new video on cycling and I will try and make it as simple as possible with not a lot of tech stuff. At least no more than needed. I should have that one ready and up in a few days.
