Under the guise of Lady Red Photos, Erika explores abstract portraiture and capturing the moving body through still photography and video. She blends movement with set design to shift perspective and create immersive landscapes.

My section is informed by the exploration of identity as an ongoing process of questioning, discovery, and rediscovery. There’s reflection on the tension between perception and the experience of self, tracing a journey towards something oscillating between acceptance and existence.

This work explores what it means to move through the world as women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals in spaces where “joy” and the act of “letting go” are intended while still feeling the impulse to stay on alert, monitor safety, and the toggle between states of regulation/dis-regulation. Will It Last Forever is a full length dance concert from the creative minds of Jaicee Partridge and Maria DiMarzio with collaborators Erika Ruch and Bella Brown. The movement in this project blends together folk, club, and modern concert dance. It is created through improvisational, collaborative practices as well as communal, discussion-based research processes.

Together, it holds desire, vulnerability, chosen family, rejection, and acceptance.
