I started my art business 7 years ago, and it started as a way for me to use my creativity to battle my anxiety and depression. The response to my art has been so overwhelmingly wonderful and has taken me places I never thought possible. I am so beyond grateful for all the support and love I've received. However, I've been really struggling finding joy and happiness in both art and my art business, especially in the last year or so. My first and last thoughts of the day are always around what I need to do for my business: What orders need to get done? Am I low on inventory? What new trends do I need to follow to continue to grow? What prep do I need to do for shows? Do I have art to post this week? These questions have created such an anxiety in me that sometimes I feel paralyzed when I wake up. It makes me want to lay in bed and cry all day.
I've tried taking some steps back from posting as much, but I now realize this isn't enough. I'm burned burned out on what used to bring me joy, safety, and pride. I've tried pushing through it, but I think I've hit a wall and can't continue like this.
So what does this mean? I'm going to take a break from my entire business for the next month or two. This means I will be not be posting and will temporarily suspend my website and patreon. I will also not be accepting any more commissions at this time. I don't have a return date yet, but I'm hoping some time away from all of this will make me excited to create again. Honestly, the thought of taking a break is the most excited I've felt about my business in a long time.
Part of me is terrified to take a break. I worked this hard to get this far, and I don't want to throw it away. But, I can't keep going on like this. I want to wake up and feel excited to create. I want to have energy and passion to put back into my business. If this means I lose a bunch of followers and the algorithm won't promote my art anymore, I'll have to accept that.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for all the love, support, and kind words. I've created such a beautiful corner of the internet, and I'm proud of that. I hope to see you when I'm back and feeling better 💖
