Today was a bittersweet day at the gallery. Our all time favorite tapestry, one which we kept at home for years, sold and is headed for a new home. "Quiet" is the most labor intensive weaving I've ever done, and I had the blessing of sending it off today in the hands of two people who I felt were the perfect new caretakers of this remarkable piece. We will surely miss it, but my heart is warmed in knowing that it will be loved and appreciated. It's creation involved about 450 hours of spinning the yarns, weaving and finishing. Made completely of undyed Navajo Churro wool in a broad range of natural earth tones, I hope it will bring them the same sense of peace that we felt having it in our presence.
