As a small, arts-based business, choosing to work or not work in the studio doesn’t have the same impact as a large institution shuttering their doors today. But we are here to say there will be no business as usual as long as immigrants and citizens are in danger due to the actions of this administration.

Our company was built by the descendants of immigrants. We employ immigrants. We admire the rich cultural fabric they bring to our country and our lives. Immigrants include our family, friends, co-conspirators, mentors and clients, and of course our own wonderful neighbors. Without immigrants, we would not exist.

We believe no human is illegal. We advocate for a legal path to citizenship for all immigrants. We demand protection for all humans on US soil, especially children, protesters, artists, journalists and those who dare to speak truth to power.

As always, remember: Art is resistance. Joy is resistance. And we must not look away.

The Final Boss has many, many pieces. At 16 feet tall, every ounce becomes precious. To minimize the weight on her upper body, we decided to mold her face and skull using vacuum forming. We started with a 3-D scan of the face which we printed at about human scale. We hand sculpted the skull directly onto that print, ensuring it would fit when scaled up. Then we 3-D scanned the hand sculpt, printed the pieces at their full scale, and used these to create a plaster mold that could go into the high temperature vacuum form machine. It’s a time consuming process but using 3d scan and print technology helps speed things up. We are currently experimenting with 3d printing the molds directly. 🤞
