We host Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, and Charleston classes, dances, and special events at The Pearl, formerly the Mercury Cafe, in Denver, CO. Denver, CO 80205


TUESDAYS:

6 pm Beginning Lindy Hop! This month long series explores the grandfather of all swing dances! You'll learn 6- and 8-count rhythms, Charleston, and a new set of dips and tricks each month! Lindy Hop is a little more challengin

g than our Basic Jitterbug classes, but is well worth the effort. ($35/4-week session, drop-in $10/per class)

7 pm Intermediate Lindy Hop! Classes will be focusing on fun, socially leadable moves that you can show off at the dance! Join us for some fun new material! ($35/4-week session, drop-in $10/per class)

8 pm Open dance for only $12! (Take a class, save $2 off cover)
When in Denver, the Tuesday night Lindy Jam is not to be missed! Join our dedicated community as we come together to move to Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt and Ella Fitzgerald. Music by our fabulous Guest DJs! https://swingnights.com/register

We're still waiting on word from the city about the fate of our beloved Mercury Cafe home, but in the meantime, Denver Comedy Underground is letting the Lindy Jam Classes & Dance continue!

Amazing part is, no joke, Denver Comedy Underground is 180 feet away from the Merc, just across the street!

The best support you can give at this time is to attend the dance, AND support Denver Comedy Underground by seeing a show, or buying a cocktail/mocktail at the Tuesday Lindy Jam!

NO DANCE AT THE MERC TONIGHT! Instead, the swing dance community of the Mercury Cafe is swinging out in the common area of Stanley Marketplace! 🎉 Lace up your shoes and dance with us to LIVE music featuring the Max Moore Quartet. 🎉

This is a FREE event!

What You Can Expect:

- Social Dancing - No need to bring a partner, we all dance with each other. Singles, couples, and families all welcome
- The wonderful LIVE music of the Max Moore Quartet
- We dance to Jazz standards, think Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald
- A wonderful community of swing dancers and lindy hoppers
- Smooth cement floors, so wear supportive footwear
- Please support the local Stanley Marketplace businesses

Hey Friends!

UPDATE: The Merc owner has said that City Council Member Darrell Watson has been amazing, but the city folks can't get back until Monday. We're still hopeful that the doors will be open for our dances soon!

But we don't want to stop dancing!!!

We're finalizing the details for a "Mercury Cafe On Tour" dance tomorrow night! It'll be FREE, the Max Moore Quartet will be playing, we'll all be there swinging out! it'll be in N Aurora from 6-8:30 pm. FINAL LOCATION REVEAL TOMORROW! And if the details don't pan out, we'll reveal the location of a meet-up where we can all hang out! Hope to see you all there!! Donations welcome!

Hello,

I have been dancing at the Mercury Cafe, now known as The Pearl, for several years. Our community, along with the poets and other dance communities have been using the space as separate tenants of the building since The Pearl’s takeover, and the recent seizure of the property is affecting our ability to use the space.

I’m writing to you in hopes that you can help our community and the other communities that use the 2199 California st. building to regain access to the space. As organizations which are not affiliated with the business of The Pearl, it is very unfortunate that we are losing access to the space we have called home for decades.

There are events which happen there nearly every night, so the sooner we can get this resolved, the better.

Safe Sapphic spaces are rare and deeply needed, so let’s show up for the one we have!

Our dance community is abundant with compassion and resilience, and while we don’t know what the future holds, we feel optimistic. Currently we are NOT canceling any bands or events, and will give as much notice as possible were that to change.
