summer is OFFICIALLY here with the arrival of this perfect trio of colorways for our June SOTM ☀️😈💃🏻

Beet Juice, the colorway used in our original sample, was created for the Farmers Market Collection back in the fall of 2023. It is one of my favorite EKF colorways of ALL time, and I find myself constantly trying to bring it back whenever we can 🥹 Nanocrystals, our second colorway offering, was originally created for the Into the Wild Collection alllllll the way back in 2021 when we were still dyeing yarn in the basement! It has been AGES since this one has returned, and we’re so happy it’s here just in time for summer! Finally, we’ve got Dreamsicle, which came from our Ice Cream Social Collection back in 2022 — the first one I developed in the EKF Studio 🤍 This trio screams summer, lightness, and joy to me, and it is exactly what the doctor ordered this season ☀️

All three colorways will also be available as single skeins on Denali Sock in our à la carte listing!

June’s Sample of the Month launches Thursday, June 7th at 10am Mountain Time. Sample of the Month, our 2026 Club, will be a monthly offering that has a turnaround time of four weeks.

We are SO EXCITED to be embracing the start of summer with our June Sample of the Month: The Aurora Vest by ✨😍

As the temperatures started to warm up, I was perusing our sample shelves and our cutie Aurora Vest nearly jumped out at me begging to be featured this summer 🥹 Originally crocheted up for us by .stitches for our Farmers Market Collection launch back in 2023, this vibrant Beet Juice sample has been a staple in my wardrobe from the jump. This colorway is not only one of my favorites I’ve ever created, but this clever design makes it so easy to layer and pair with dresses and other tops. It’s lightweight and made with our Denali Sock base, which is just PERFECT for summer.

I had so much fun styling this one with a dress I was renting from Nuuly, and cannot wait to wear this fit all summer long 😎 And I’ve just got to say, I think y’all will be VERY excited about the additional colorways that we’ve got joining the palette for this one…🍦🦎

Exciting news!!! EKF is growing and we’re ready to add another person to our team in Denver 🥹 We’re looking for a full-time dye studio assistant, but more importantly: someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment requiring continuous movement, has strong teamwork skills and experience collaborating with others, has a strong determination to achieve goals, and has skills in problem solving or creative thinking.

At EKF, the work is hard and physically demanding and we are always on the go, but the environment is full of an energy that fuels creative ideas, a little bit of chaos, and a lot of fun. We are always coming up with new ideas, improving how we work and flow in the studio, and figuring out how to best support everyone on the team. Part of the beauty and scrappiness of EKF was that I came into this as a research scientist, with no business background but a whole lot of heart to make up for it. EKF has continued to run that way over the past seven years, but with everyone on the team working to make the pillars of EKF a little stronger, a little less chaotic, but still full of love and a desire to lead with creativity and collaboration. We cannot wait to see who joins the team next!!

Reminiscing back to a year ago when I got to spend a month straight working on colorway creation for our first ever D.I.Y. Level Two Class — it was a period of time that consisted of everything I love most about my work: creating, collaborating, and community. Getting to compile all of your photos and hear the inspiration behind the colorway you wanted to create — whether it was a personal story, a favorite place, or even photos from your favorite time of day — it all felt so personal and special. The fact that I got to try and bring everyone’s vision for their own custom palette to life, so you could create something with a yarn that was truly made for you?! I really don’t think it gets any better for me 🥹

Creating 48 custom colorways in under a month was one of the greatest feats I’ve ever tackled at EKF, and honestly, seeing what you all went on to make with them made it even more rewarding. I cannot WAIT to do it all again with you this August ❤️

D.I.Y. 2 is BACK! 🤩🌈💃🏻 for the second year in a row, we’re hosting our D.I.Y. Level Two Class!

I’ll admit, after experiencing the intense amount of work prep for this second level course last summer, I feel like I could’ve taken a smaller step from level one to two instead of the LEAP into this type of course, but honestly, I am nothing if not the person that fully sends it (as you know by now 😂💀🙃).

If you’re new to EKF, here’s a quick rundown of what level 2 looks like: first, you’ll need to take D.I.Y. Level One with us, whether you took it in 2024, 2025, or are signed up for our class in just a couple of weeks! Next, the actual class 👀 D.I.Y. 2 is your chance to have even more creative freedom than level one with the opportunity create your own exclusive colorway!! Here’s how it works - once you sign up for the class, I’ll send you a Google Form where you will submit photos to create your very own colorway inspiration board for the class! I’ll also give you a few prompts for the type of colorway you’re looking for - light, rich, dark, moody, low/high contrast etc. and we will work one-on-one prior to the class to get your colorway all set up for you. I’ll take your photos and create unique dye steps for you and from there, the colors are YOURS do decide what to do with and how to dye with. The class will be 3 hours long, giving you plenty of time to plan out your colorway AND to give us time to work together if you want more one-on-one help once we’re actually in the studio.

This class is such a labor of love, and I truly wouldn’t have it any other way. Getting to do this course means getting to do my favorite parts of the job — creating with color, collaborating with you, and spending time in our community 🥹🌈👩🏻‍🎨 counting down to this class feels like Christmas morning and I am SO, so excited to get to do this again.

YOU X Leave No Trace 🤩🌈❤️

I just spent the last hour scrolling through all of the photos that y’all sent us of things that you have made with our Leave No Trace Collection. Halfway through, I found myself getting emotional over the beauty of it all. Not only is it the most magical thing in the world to get to create and play with color and to have you all create something even MORE beautiful out of it, but to have you take something imperfect, something a little rough around the edges, and transform it into something that becomes a part of your wardrobe?…it feels pretty special. This realization forced me to refocus on what we’re doing here — using our hands every day, hand-dyeing every single skein of yarn, in pots and trays, on little stools, wearing rain boots and waterproof pants, creating something we love. Not everything is perfect, but that’s the beauty of what we get to do here. There’s something human about it, knowing that every single skein has traveling through our dye studio and then seeing what you’ve created with our ‘less than perfect’ skeins makes my heart so incredibly happy. You all truly are the best, and we’re so grateful that you have brought new life to these Leave No Trace skeins for us ❤️
