Two years ago, we premiered Growth Spell in July 2022. Today, I finally made a reel that just barely covers the surface of what we did over 3 nights of performance, between 2 different venues!
It was my dream to make this show happen and we DID THAT SH**! looking back over the footage makes me emotional.
I am so proud of the cast and crew for those 3 nights. We really cultivated a safe space for each other and pushed the boundaries of art, theater, dance, music,, story telling, sexuality and spirituality.
Thank you to the audience who truly made it a SHOW!
The first night we were at Enigma Bazaar .
The next two nights we played at Scorpio Palace.
Both now no longer venues 😢, but both very special places in my heart for allowing us to try something new.
Producing shows independently is hard, everyone knows that. I am grateful to have had one of the best teams of people who helped me get this show up. However s**t always happens. I was the victim of harm on the same night that we closed. this meant I was immediately thrown into survival mode, without mental space to bask in the after-show glow of what we made together. 💔 It breaks my heart that I didn't follow up here with all the photos and videos the incredible performers and audience had the right to see and admire.
We grow around it. Bad storms happen, and you connect, reach out, and then root back down.
White supremacy and patriarchal violence has robbed our land, our bodies, and our relatives of so much vitality and attempts it every day. we gotta decolonize our art and ways of relating to each other. It seems this is the best way forward.
Thank you for sticking around all this time and I'm excited to present our next show in about a month!!
