In 1990 Joyce Mikal-Flynn survived a death event requiring 22 minutes of CPR to come back to life. Dr. Mikal-Flynn, an expert in resilience and trauma care, researches and uses her unique system of recovery, Metahabillitation, to guide survivors toward posttraumatic growth (PTG).

Author of multiple publications including Turning Tragedy Into Triumph, reveals how individuals and communities uniquely use traumas and challenges to move beyond survival and overtime, utilize these experiences for growth. Dr. Mikal-Flynn continues to research, lecture and apply Metahabilitation in a variety of recovery and rehabilitation settings in Canada, Italy, the UK and the US to help survivors, including veterans, first responders, individuals dealing with addiction and dependency, cancer patients, caregivers and clinicians, experience PTG.
