If a platform provides an application process and clearly states not to follow up, respect that process. Attempting to bypass established procedures by locating personal contact information, reaching out through private channels, or assuming access is owed because an application was submitted is not professional networking.

In the film and television industry, relationships matter. Professionalism matters. Respecting boundaries matters.

A few tips for creatives:

• Follow the application instructions exactly as written.
• Use the contact information provided for business inquiries.
• Understand that “submitted” does not mean “selected.”

• Never assume access, coverage, or an interview is owed to you.

At Atlanta Film and TV, we are intentional about who we feature. Every interview, conversation, and spotlight is carefully curated to serve our audience and reflect our brand.

Born in Rwanda, Gasana has built a career spanning broadcast television and independent film, working as a producer, editor, archival researcher, and director. His credits include work with The Weather Channel and Court TV while his independent projects have explored subjects ranging from Miami’s Cuban diaspora to Atlanta history and fashion.

Sports, Music and High Energy for Decatur WatchFest 2026 Opening Night

Walking around the new and improved Decatur Square was nothing short of amazing. With over 5,000 people in attendance, you were bound to bump into someone. Well, not just someone, somebody you knew. Throughout the evening, there were plenty of reunions filled with lots of laughs, hugs, and love as everyone enjoyed food, beverages, and fun. Oh! And, let’s not forget the opening night concert featuring Atlanta royalty and one half of Outcast’s Big Boi!

In an interview, Big Boi shares: As an Atlantan and huge soccer fan, performing for Decatur WatchFest ‘26 to kick off our World Cup festivities is a great honor, “I’ve seen the energy the World Cup creates, and I’m excited to get the party started for music and soccer fans in my backyard.”

Some featured songs were, Bombs over Baghdad, Ms. Jackson, All Night, and many more.

Jonathan Holliman described the energy in Decatur last night as amazing. “I watched the transformation of the Decatur Square. I work two jobs in Decatur. He shared. I am a teacher at Glenwood Elementary and I work for City Parks and Recreation. I’ve walked past here for the past ten years, and they have transformed this place! My wife and I took our wedding pictures at the gazebo - which by the way was torn down. So, I am Decatur!” He says.

Decatur resident Andrea and John Morgan echoed Johnathan’s sentiment’s

“So far the vibe in Decatur has been fun!” Andrea Morgan shared.

This Week at Decatur WatchFest ‘26: June 12 - 21, 2026

DECATUR, June 12, 2026 — From June 12 - 21, 2026 of FIFA World Cup ‘26, Decatur WatchFest ‘26 will show 18 World Cup matches and host nine free concerts on the Decatur Square. Full details at www.Decaturwatchfest26.com. Watchfest booths and sponsor activations are open one hour before the first event of the day. Details regarding items allowed on the Square are noted on the DWF site.

Matches - All matches will be shown live on three large screens on the Decatur Square. Viewing is free and does not require tickets.

June 13: 6 p.m., Brazil v Morocco; 9 p.m., Haiti v Scotland
June 14: 4 p.m., Netherlands v Japan
June 15: Noon, Spain v Cabo Verde; 3 p.m., Belgium v Egypt; 6 p.m., Saudi Arabia v. Uruguay
June 16: 3 p.m., France v Senegal; 9 p.m., Argentina v Algeria
