☀️ The man who stopped the Sun and moved the Earth - this is how Nicolaus Copernicus is most often described. Today, we commemorate the 483rd anniversary of his passing. Kopernik was a brilliant Polish Renaissance mathematician, astronomer, and one of the most renowned scientists in history.

🌍 Copernicus is also remembered as a Catholic canon and the father of modern astronomy. He was the mastermind behind the heliocentric model of the solar system, revealing that the Sun, not the Earth, lies at the center of the universe. His theory sparked a scientific revolution and paved the way for a deeper understanding of the world around us.

📍 If you are ever in Warsaw, the Copernicus Science Centre is well worth a visit. It is a fantastic interactive space designed to help visitors understand science and how the world works. Perfect for both children and adults, it’s a place where you can step into the shoes of Nicolaus Copernicus and conduct your own unique experiments.

🪹 Storks are among the most iconic birds found in Poland. They are well-known for the exceptionally long journeys they undertake twice a year. They spend the winter in warm climates, most often in African countries.

🧭 The longest routes reach up to 10,000 kilometers. The journey, which lasts several months, allows them to cover an average of 200 kilometers per day. Thanks to GPS transmitters, the birds' migration routes are precisely tracked.

➡ One of the most famous storks is “Krutek,” who comes from Krutyń (North-Eastern Poland). A few days ago, he managed to reach Poland, though it was no easy feat. As reported by the Masurian Landscape Park, he was found by a roadside in a state of extreme exhaustion and was subsequently taken to a specialized stork rehabilitation center for observation.

💙 The bird has now fully recovered and has begun repairing his nest after the winter. Storks are subject to very strict protection in Poland. Since 2003, May 31st has been celebrated in our country as White Stork Day.
