The Ley has been quiet. But Ashen Throne hasn’t.
It’s been a long time since we have posted an update here. The project never went away, we just stepped back from posting and started working on something we have wanted Ashen Throne to have for a long time:
A playable digital prototype of Command Siege.
What is contained in the images below, is an early development build. It isn’t meant to be pretty yet. Right now, the goal is to build the game itself: turns, combat, Essence, faction mechanics, card interactions, an AI opponent, and the rules system underneath everything.
We have also been refining the identities of the four factions. The prototype now contains the beginnings of their individual engines—including Oath, Fury, Veil, and Ash, alongside the universal mechanics that make up Command Siege.
Veil, in particular, has evolved into something we are really excited about: Gamble. Deceive. Misdirect. Mimic. Enthrall.
The idea is simple:
You don’t overpower your opponent. You make sure the game stops going according to their plan.
There’s still a lot to build, test, break, rebalance, and rebuild. But for the first time, we are not just looking at cards and imagining how Ashen Throne should play.
We are actually playing it against an AI.
More soon.
Wield the Ley. Claim the Crown.
