Canyon Blues and Jazz Home of the Sandia Chill Concerts

The Canyon Blues and Jazz Board has been busy since the close of the last season, planning and contracting musical entertainment for the upcoming Sandia Chill concert season, which starts on
Memorial Day weekend. The entertainment will include a combination of new and all-time favorite bands and vocalists.
Concerts Reveal for the Canyon Blues and Jazz
2026 Sandia Chill Season:
6:00 pm Sunday, 5.24 Memorial Day Blues Festival: “Indigenous Blues.”
This Festival will showcase the musical talent of our surrounding pueblo and native tribe musicians, who have written their own music and created their unique interpretations of
the Blues genre for both performance and recording:
· CW Ayon – Las Cruces, NM native of Cheyenne descent, debuting on ,the Sandia Chill stage with his Delta blues style. CW has played in several ABQ venues and clubs.
· Turquoise Steel – Navajo family band from Albuquerque, debuting with their original energetic blend of blues/ rock music
· Stanlie Kee - Navajo guitarist, returning to the stage with his youthful twist on classic blues.
· Levi Platero – Awe-inspiring Navajo guitarist Levi Platero and family blues-rock band, returning to the stage.
7:00 pm Sunday, 6.14 “Veterans Appreciation Concert.”
This concert will honor our local Veterans on Flag Day with two crowd-pleasing bands:
· CS Rock Show – Featuring Don Curry and his band playing classic rock favorites.
· Felix y los Gatos – Featuring Felix Peralta (vocals/ guitar) and improvising with their signature New Mexico “Zydetejana” sound - a mix of blues, zydeco, and swing.
7:00 pm Sunday, 7.12 “American Jazz Celebration.”
Will include the following bands specializing in both contemporary and jazz standards that we all love:
· Jazz Traveler - Debuting with Placitas musicians Chris Livingston on guitar and George Kapalka on keys, along with their Albuquerque friends.
· Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra (19-piece) with vocal chanteuse Hillary Smith
7:00 pm Sunday, 8.16 “Soul, Funk and Jazz”
· Ryan Montaño – Featuring Grammy award-winning trumpeter Ryan Montaño and friends with vocalists Andrew Cooper and Rebecca Arscott . The title says it all.
6:00 pm Sunday, 9 9. Labor Day Blues Festival
Our annual LBD Blues Festival has become a traditional way to celebrate the end of the outdoor concert summer season.
· Jay Boy Adams with Zenobia and Woody Key - Returning to the stage with their refreshing and personal “Americana” version of the Blues. If you missed last year’s June concert featuring this group, this is your opportunity to experience what others raved about.
· Big Suitcase - Santa Fe Blues/ Soul/ Funk band featuring vocalist Myrrinne Fowler and guitarist Tiho Dimitrov. This Blues/ Soul/ Funk band is very popular in the Santa Fe area. “Suitcase” stands for a revolving group of local band musicians. Tiho has performed as a featured guitarist and vocalist at the New Mexico Jazz Workshop.
· The Rudy Boy Experiment - Featuring Rudy Boy Jaramillo and band returning to the stage with their distinctive high-energy blues, rock, and soul that will keep you dancing till the end.
