Three little children were strangled in their own home. That fact is not in dispute. When a jury needs days to decide whether that is a crime, the system has lost its bearings. Innocent lives ended by the one person who was supposed to protect them.
Mental illness is real, and it deserves treatment. It does not erase the bodies of a five-year-old, a three-year-old, and a baby. Planning, waiting for the father to leave, and using exercise bands on each child one by one is not a momentary lapse. It is an act that demands accountability.
Justice exists first for the victims who can no longer speak. A courtroom that treats the murder of children as a close call has forgotten its purpose. The law must protect the weakest among us, not search for reasons to excuse the strongest.
