For 25 years, the Arts District Chorale has united voices to inspire, connect, and uplift our community. Now, we're marking this milestone with A Celebration of Song — an evening dedicated to the music, cherished memories, and shared experiences that have defined our first quarter century.

The highlight of the concert is the world premiere of The Choir Invisible, a new piece commissioned by the Arts District Chorale composed by Patrick Vu, made possible by the generous contribution of longtime ADC singer, David Reinig. Featuring the stirring words of George Eliot, this work echoes our legacy — how our lives continue to echo through those we’ve influenced — and highlights the timeless power of art to become, as Eliot puts it, “undying music in the world.”

Join us as we honor our past, celebrate the voices that have brought us this far, and look forward to the music that is yet to be sung.

Today, Arts District Chorale joins the music world in remembering Dolly Parton with gratitude, admiration, and a song in our hearts.

Dolly gave the world far more than an extraordinary catalog of music. She gave us stories filled with humanity, honesty, resilience, humor and hope. Her songs crossed genres and generations, finding their way from the country stage to concert halls—and into the choral music so many of us have been privileged to sing.

We are especially grateful for the choral legacy of “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” beautifully arranged by Craig Hella Johnson and published by Hal Leonard. Today, its message of moving through darkness toward hope feels especially poignant:

“It’s been a long dark night
And I’ve been a waitin’ for the morning
It’s been a long hard fight
But I see a brand new day a dawning…”

And then the words that have resonated with so many singers:

“’Cause I can see the light of a clear blue morning
I can see the light of a brand new day…
And everything’s gonna be all right.”

What an extraordinary gift to leave behind: music that will continue to be rehearsed, performed, shared and felt long after the final note.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, for the inspiration, and for giving generations of singers something meaningful to sing. Your light will continue to shine every time your music is sung.

With gratitude and love from all of us at Arts District Chorale.
