With overwhelming sadness we share the news that our beloved Jerry Ayers has suddenly and very unexpectedly exited this world’s stage. In short, we are devastated. As an amazing artist he played many roles at DCT – Board Member, Playwright, Director, Actor, Ultimate Gentleman and Host, and most importantly, Our Cherished Friend. This past Sunday afternoon he was smiling and pouring champagne during the Mother’s Day performance, making sure that everyone who attended had just what they needed, all while helping to plan our next Season. Last fall he directed The Demons of Fleet Street, a play he masterfully wrote and then subsequently directed. He has always just “been there” with an encouraging word, maybe a funny snarky comment, and that fantastic and wonderful laugh. We will miss him more than words can possibly say and ask that you hold his dear wife, VIctoria, as well as other family and friends, close in your thoughts as we all navigate this loss. Plans to honor Jerry’s legacy at some future point are underway and information will be forthcoming at a later date. Please raise a glass, maybe even two, and toast our enormously treasured friend.
