A terrifying rescue unfolded at Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier in Texas when the Iron Shark roller coaster stopped during its vertical climb. Eight riders were left stranded nearly 100 feet above the ground, facing upward on the steep track.

Firefighters carefully rescued the passengers one by one using safety harnesses and a truck-mounted basket. The operation lasted several hours, but all eight riders were eventually brought safely to the ground, and no serious injuries were reported.
