This news is so devastating to many of us in the artist and craft community so lovingly nurtured by Lori and Joey. Goin Coastal is one of the favorite shops of locals and PSJ visitors. It’s been an honor to have my art in their store for 5 years.

From now until the store closes, I’m offering a 25% discount on my items that are in the store. Goin Coastal is my only retail outlet and there’s just no other store like it…mostly because of the love Lori and Joey put into it.

It is with profound sadness that we have to announce the closing of Goin’ Coastal PSJ effective October 31,2026. It has been a great adventure with our GC family of vendors, customers and loyal supporters for the last four years and we cannot thank you enough. This news on the heels of losing the heart of Goin’ Coastal PSJ (Joey Jernigan) has hit really hard. Please keep us in your prayers over the coming weeks as we try to wrap our heads and hearts around another tremendous loss.

Usually during the summer months, I try to use my creativity and develop a series of whimsical themed paintings. This year especially I needed something fun, no stress, happy paintings that would make me smile...and you smile hopefully. I've completed 8 of 12 planned painting in my new series "Turtle Zen". I mean who doesn't love sea turtles and need a little zen in their lives, right?

I will complete the last four hopefully in time to perhaps offer a calendar or a set of cards thru my venue at Goin' Goin’ Coastal PSJ. They will have their debut at The Joe Center for the Arts Members Market opening this Friday Sept. 18. Opening reception is 6PM ET to 8PM.

I was so blessed to be able to travel to Branson Missouri to participate in the 2026 Plein Air Convention and Expo (PACE). Three days of jam packed seminars and demonstrations, lots of energy in the building and unfortunately germs which landed me in sick bay on day 2.

I only went on one paint out to the College of the Ozarks before I started feeling pitiful and ornery. I did paint the view of Table Rock lake from our hotel room.

The very best thing was I did the add on pre-convention workshop with the great Thomas Schaller (considered to be one of our current day watercolor masters). He did another demo the next day for the kickoff of the convention. Amazing work by a gracious gentleman along with his dog Otis on stage with him.

My paintings done en plein air (or in my hotel room standing at the easel) after a little tweaking back in the studio.

Currently working on my next zen series ...oh wait until you see it!!!

The Forgotten Coast en Plein Air is in full swing in our area. I was so fortunate to participate in a day long workshop with Cindy Briggs. It was a refreshing day to get back to painting along the water’s edge at Frank Pate Park in the morning and then by the Cape San Blas lighthouse in the afternoon. An enjoyable day where I was able to forget about daily responsibilities and allow myself to feel and hear nature and just paint.

Finally had the opportunity to participate in Iain Stewart’s workshop held by the Southern Watercolor Society in Quincy, FL. It’s been 50+ years since I’ve been in Quincy and I had forgotten what a quaint, historic town it is. We strolled in the city square and watched Iain create in his sketchbook, then we had the opportunity to work in our own. On the final day, we painted a scene from Scotland (Iain’s home country). Great workshop!

This year's Christmas "doodles" for the "littles" in our family. I still have a few more to go..time is precious since my Mom has been living with us and needing more help.
