Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a day that would forever change the course of American history.
On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were lost in New York City, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93. Among them were firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and everyday Americans whose lives and stories remain part of our nation’s collective memory.
Today, the Celina community gathered to remember them.
Our 9/11 remembrance ceremony brought together residents, first responders, City leaders, and members of our community for a moment of reflection - not only on what our country lost that day, but also on the courage, service, sacrifice, and unity that emerged in the days that followed.
For those who lived through September 11, the memories remain vivid. We remember where we were when we heard the news. We remember watching first responders run toward danger. We remember the flags that appeared throughout our neighborhoods and the extraordinary sense of unity that brought communities together.
For younger generations, September 11 is a chapter of history they did not experience firsthand. Twenty-five years later, it is now our responsibility to ensure its stories continue to be told.
Here in Celina, we honor that responsibility by remembering together.
We remember those who went to work that morning and never returned home. We honor the first responders who answered the call without hesitation. We recognize the families who have carried their loss for a quarter-century. And we remain grateful for the men and women who continue to dedicate their lives to protecting and serving others.
Twenty-five years have passed.
We still remember.
We still honor.
And we will never forget.
