Still working on 2 remaining 18”x24” paintings of 5 dogs each. My art room is being used as a hospital room for my Astrid while she heals from a major TPLO surgery she underwent yesterday. She will be on bedrest for 8-12 weeks until her release to normal activity. Please pray for her.
Astrid is on the left, and Hiccup is her brother on the right.

Finally finished this memorial portrait of Callie. 8”x10” graphite on watercolor paper. I won’t be available for any more portraits until I finish 3 large commissioned paintings of multiple dogs for another very patient client. Thank you for your patience and trust.

Working on a large painting of 13 dogs, still working on the preliminary sketches, just about ready to start the painting. Took a break to complete this portrait of my friend and her mentor.

This painting came up in my memories. It is a watercolor painting of a Quiché woman with her baby I painted in 1994 from a photo I had taken on a trip to Guatemala in Chichicastenango. She was selling textiles on the sidewalk to feed her child, facing the wall to keep me from photographing her face. The image of her facing the brick wall brings to mind the situation at our southern border. I wonder if she or her child have made the journey north only to face another wall. I hope she and her child are well and have hope and a bright future. Jeremiah 29:11-13

My cat at the time, Smokie, walked across the painting and left her permanent claw marks all across the piece. Now I close the door to my studio after checking to make sure neither Cali nor Mowgli are in there.

I am excited about 3 large 24”x18” multi-subject watercolor portraits in the works that are going to take quite some time, from pencil sketch to detailed drawing to watercolor painting. I will be able to post them in about 8 months, I hope, with my work schedule and a few other drawings in the works.
