It's mural Monday! Check out Montana Department of Commerce for all things commerce and to see murals from around the state each Monday!

Montana Mural Monday: This mural, titled “Lewis & Clark Hotshot” was painted from a real-life photo of the artist's brother, Owen, fighting fires in the Lewis and Clark National Forest. Painted in 2025, its vivid colors and realistic style make this piece very visually moving.

This mural is one of many located in our 38 Montana Main Street member communities statewide. To see more murals and to learn more about Commerce’s Montana Main Street Program, read the press release here: https://tinyurl.com/3z6ssdpm.

From this ..... to this!!!

We would like to give a huge shout out to Cut Bank Marketplace on Main, LeAnne and Brian Kavanagh, and Cut Bank Racquetball Association for their generous donations during last year's Dumpster Paint! Without their support, the Dumpster Paint would not have been possible. We're back at it for year two and will be applying for a few grant opportunities but will likely seek sponsorship of the event again this year. Cut Bank Racquetball Association has already stepped up with this year's first donation! Thank you for supporting the Dumpster Paint!

A sign-up for sponsorship is below for businesses or individuals wanting to contribute to this year's Dumpster Paint. All amounts are welcome! We even have a Community Sponsorship from $1-$100 so folks can donate what they can.

About the Project
The Dumpster Paint is a multi-day celebration of creativity and community. Held during the Bank's Annual Lewis and Clark Festival, this unique event brings together talented artists to transform everyday dumpsters into bold, eye-catching works of public art.

Our Mission
Cut Bank First Friday believes art can educate, engage, and connect people in meaningful ways. By bringing art into unexpected places, the event encourages the community to see their surroundings differently and fosters a shared sense of pride and responsibility for public spaces.

Why Donate?
Your donation helps fund local artists, beautify shared spaces, and inspire residents and visitors alike to see the community in a new way. Together, we can turn the unexpected into something extraordinary while celebrating the growing arts culture in Cut Bank.

Call for Artists!

Where did this year's theme come from? We pulled the theme right from Cut Bank First Friday classes taught this season! Whether it's a painted barn quilt, stitches that make up a sweater, a string of lights on a Christmas tree painting, signs of the Zodiac, Meditative Arts- Zentangle designs, eco printed scarves, paintings made from fabric, Gelli prints macramé for beginners, beaded bracelets or swirls smoothing out a crepe, geometric patterns and repeated design elements are everywhere!

Still not convinced or are curious how to spin it if you're more into realism? What about beaded earrings dangling from the ear of a princess, the bold lines on the hem of a dancing ribbon skirt, the pinstripe of a western shirt on a cowboy? Geometric patterns and repeated designs don't have to cover the entire dumpster. Be creative!

Below are just a few examples.
