Thank you to everyone who came out to support our first Soup & Chili Cook-Off. We were blessed to have so many volunteers from the BRC help us get set-up and cleaned up! A HUGE thank you to all our contestants! There were some really amazing recipes out there. A special thank you to our three judges Frank Reaves Jr., Mayor of Culpeper, Glen Hoffherr and Mr. Steven Jones, Sr. We couldn't have done it without everyone's support! Thanks again and we look forward to next year!

CALLING ALL LOCAL CHEFS: SOUP AND CHILI COOK-OFF

Blue Ridge Chorale of Culpeper is holding its first ever Soup and Chili Cook-Off and fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. this Saturday at Culpeper United Methodist Church.

The deadline to sign up is Friday.

A team of three judges, including Mayor Frank Reaves Jr., will award medals and trophies in both soup and chili categories. There will be a fan favorite award with a $100 cash prize. Cook off participants are currently being recruited and it’s free to enter the contest at choralecookoff.com.

Attendees who bring canned food to the event will receive a discount on admission--$10/adults, $5 for 10 and younger, kids 3 and younger eat free. Canned good donations will support the Culpeper Food Closet. Remaining dishes will be donated to the Culpeper Heat Shelter for this year's last free community dinner.

There will also be baked goods, desserts, drinks & popcorn available for purchase with free water provided. Proceeds will help the nonprofit community choir fund its yearly $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior and for performance expenses like sheet music. The chorale’s concerts are free to the public and they operate solely on donations.

Community Veterans Engagement Boards (CVEB) are community collaborations that seek to maximize different local stakeholders and leverage collective impact to address local Veteran issues. The Veterans Experience Office engages with these local boards to:

- Conduct outreach to Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors
- Disseminate information on different VA and community resources
- Assist in ensuring they are fully-functioning and maintaining contact across VA administrations
