“We ride together, we get matching tatts together. Weeb girls, branded for life”. - Alexis Hoyer
Got a matching tattoo with my bestie Day last night.
I got La and she got Tui from our favorite show Avatar: The Last Airbender
“Our strength comes from the Spirit of the Moon; Our life comes from the Spirit of the Ocean. They work together to keep balance.” - Princess Yue
La (拉) means “Pull” in Mandarin Chinese. Tui and La resemble the Chinese yin-yang symbol, a symbol of balance and Taoism, in their coloring and mannerisms.
La represents Yin in appearance, being associated with cool, dark, and watery, and Yang in personality, being associated with being active and strong. (Representing my best friend Dayonna)
Tui (推) means “push” in Mandarin Chinese.
In Taoist philosophy, Yin and Yang are the elements that represent the opposites that converge with each other. They are not isolated from each other, but flow harmoniously, and within each there is a part of the opposite. They are the duality present in all things in the universe: day and night, man and woman, light and darkness. The black part is the Yin (the feminine, the dark, the cold) and the white part is the Yang (the masculine, the luminous, the warm).
Tui and La — your moon and ocean — have always circled each other in an eternal dance
We got these tattoos to represent eachother FOR eachother. We carry one another with us while still holding on to ourselves as well, keeping eachother balanced. 🖤🤍
