Salsamante Dance Academy Classes at The Crystal Ballroom Dance Center

A huge thank you to Amy Ross and David Ross for being such fabulous cohosts this past Friday. We are so grateful for their passion for community and welcoming Salsamante Dance Academy and Vera Grace Events to The Crystal Ballroom.

Carlos’ birthday celebration on September 25 was an incredible night, with 155 Salsa and Bachata dancers coming together for classes, performances by Columbus Latin Dance Academy DaytOn1 and Spring City Salsa and music by DJ TimburÓn until 2AM. The turnout and response were absolutely incredible, and we’re excited for everything coming next.

We hope to bring even more flavor to the Columbus Latin dance community at this gorgeous venue in Worthington, Ohio.

We’ve got weekly Salsa and Bachata classes, socials, and monthly events for you to enjoy.

A little reminder for the dance community 💃

This happens to SO many women at both small socials and big congresses.

We understand people are excited to meet new dancers, make connections, and have new experiences. But the middle of a fast salsa song — in a dark crowded room with loud music and spins every 3 seconds — is probably not the best time for a personal interrogation.

Some of the questions women get asked within the FIRST dance:
“What’s your race?”
“How old are you?”
“Are you single?”
“Do you have kids?”
“Where are you staying?”
“Are you staying at the hotel?”
“Who did you come with?”
“Do you want a boyfriend tonight?”
“Where do you live?”

Meanwhile we’re trying to:
✔ hear the music
✔ stay on balance
✔ avoid crashing into other dancers
✔ follow the lead
✔ actually enjoy the dance

Friendly conversation is completely fine. But there’s a huge difference between being social and making someone immediately uncomfortable.

For some reason this happens to me CONSTANTLY with salseros 😭

Let’s respect the dance floor, respect people’s privacy, and remember that good energy and a good dance connection go way further than 20 rapid-fire personal questions.

Dance first. Everything else can come later. ✨
