One In A Million

You're one in a million
Likened to a grain of sand

One of a billion burning stars
Sparkling in His hand

One of several trillion souls
That's walked the earth before

One of a zillion shards
Of shattered glass upon the floor

One of many feathers
In the smallest sparrow's wing
Together, help it soar
But on their own can't do a thing

One of countless particles
Of dust blown in the breeze

A mere piece of many moving parts

We're all the least of these

Sing Your Colors

Golden voice from Heaven
Sing Your colors over me
A swelling cloak of rainbow
Banner swirling harmony

Rain on me in colors like
Jewels trickling from above
Sing to me in emerald green
Sing over me with love

Sing to me in silver tones
I've never heard before
Humming to a joyful red
Joined by a violet score

Brilliant notes of crimson
Blue and yellow melody
Lay me in a field of song
Sing colors over me

Wrap me in the purest white
That I have ever worn
Baptize me in blue ocean
Under sun of flaming orange

Brilliant as the brightest day
That I have ever known
Over- up! the greatest heights
That I have ever flown

Into endless sapphire skies
The land of cloudless day
Open up the gates of pearl
There is no trace of gray

Walls of solid jasper
Streets of pure translucent gold
Angels hum in hues so bright
My ears, they barely hold
The brilliant song of morning
Rhythmic rush of the crystal sea
Golden voice of Heaven
Sing Your colors over me

Mantle

God relieved you of your mantle
And He placed it square on me
I watched you ascend like an angel
Then I carried on your dream

We feign the luxery of choices
But deep down we know the truth
It was never our choice to be chosen
Compelled and beckoned from our youth

You were rare- the rarest of diamonds
Like a sunflower in the snow
I cannot un-see your spirit in
Everything I've ever known

Your calling- reverberating
Thrums throughout the whole of me
I grow weary from the weight
And my heart bleeds down my sleeve

Amongst a cloud so great of witnesses
Gold and rubies crown your head
And the bridge that links our valleys
Is the thinnest golden thread

One day I'll cross it with you
For you're waiting there for me
On the edge of all that's passed
And all that is eternity

One day I'll shed this mantle
As a serpent sheds it's skin
Souls outgrow their flesh
And seek a higher plane to live

Whose shoulders it warms next
Is not mine or yours to say
May they be a willing vessel
Is all that we can pray

My Heart

My heart has ached from beauty
My heart has ached from pain
It always aches for something
And sometimes it aches in vain

From dust on silver moon
To the sandy ocean floor
It aches for lots of places
I have never been before

Save for little windows
That brings the world to me
Or brought to life on paper
I've been fortunate to read

It aches to ride a dragon
See a Phoenix rise from fire
Aurora Borealis
Sapphire sky; my heart's desire

It aches to dance with angels
Spar with demons, swords aflame
Paranormal combat, Waltzing on immortal plane

Had I no flesh, no teeth, no bones
Nor blood to slow me down
Bodiless soul, I'd roam
No face to wear a worried frown

Pure consciousness, pure beaming light,
Soaring past the summits height
Should enemies be out for blood
Joke's on them; it's under mud

I'm holding onto something
I can't wrap my hands around
All that's tangible, material
Has nailed me to the ground

And so once more, I slumber
If I'm lucky, I won't dream
But escape for just a while
From these tethered, heavy things

Uh-oh.
