Many of us learned a very simple origin story for Moribana.

But when I started digging into the historical sources, the story turned out to be far more dramatic — involving Western fruit cultivation, economic hardship, and the invention of the white basin.

What a day at the Japan Festival at the Yokoso Center! 🇯🇵🌸

Our Central Ohio Shibui Study Group crew was serving up Matcha Lattes, Sakura Lattes, and steaming bowls of instant ramen — and loving every minute of it.

Between the karaage, chirashizushi, mochi, music, laughter, and so many beautiful conversations, the energy was incredible. It’s always special to see Japanese culture celebrated so joyfully right here in Columbus.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, supported the festival, and shared the day with us. We had an absolute blast!

Already looking forward to next year 🍜🍵🌸
