There’s a difference between recording a moment and understanding what the moment means.
That’s been on our minds as we prepare to capture Southern Oracles: A Celebration of the South Side alongside Streetlight Guild/Scott Woods.
Before the cameras roll, there’s work to do. You walk the space. Study the light. Watch rehearsal. Listen. Because good storytelling requires more than knowing where to put the camera. It requires understanding the people, the place, and the history in front of it.
And this story is deeply rooted in Columbus’ South Side.
So the goal isn’t simply to document a performance. It’s to capture something that feels true to the community and the stories being told.
September 1st, it all comes together.
Pay attention to the story. The shot will follow.
