Man shout out to my dude I forgot this makes the 3rd book. Congratulations bro...

Man, I never thought I would have done so many things over the years or get so many opportunities. I am thankful for everyone..it a funny as someone who hates doing the same thing after a while...I'm happy on this one.

So, I will most likely be changing something's up moving forward just with this page and my brand in general. Not saying you'll never seen book covers or client art..because let's face it..I like to be helpful for those that need my skill set.

But as with most things time changes and I just want to go into explore mode again. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have even done these frankly.

So, I have some good new and some better news..lol

Yes...you clicked on it....lol

After this series of artwork is done, shout out to my dude plan on doing some different things on here and in my business in general..I will always be an artist, illustrator, animator..etc but I just have to take some time to reflect and evaluate something's.

I tend to get bored easily that's why sometimes you'll see me post this and that..then off to something completely different. Which I think if horrible for building an audience on IG by the way..😅

Anyway, I'm not leaving but the whole way I post and what I post will most likely change. Definately don't follow me if I post something you don't like, or because I don't post enough, etc...you will be missed...lol.

Ok, enough rambling...if you do like these series of illustrations checkout the authors tagged in my previous post to get their books...pretty awesome reads.

One more thing, if you do stay past all this, thanks and definately will be brings some fire moving forward. 100% what I like and not necessarily anyone else's vision..haha. @ Columbus, Ohio

Today is all about reflection, at least for me moving, moving, moving is awesome...my mind never stops. But, sometimes I have to stop or slow down and make adjustments in what I want to do.

Hard work just like in the drawing above will always be celebrated, but I think it's just as important to make sure the route you travel is going in the right direction.

Anyway, this is another short post today. Go and create for my creative's out there. Always thankful for every opportunity I get and yea happy Friday!

What's good guys, today is all about the set up, line work, whatever you want to call it. When it comes to art for me, I'm constantly adjust things and look at perspectives.

Most of the time, I would say don't place things right in the middle. But again it depends on the perspective you want to show.

So how does this relate to line work as an artist. In comics,l it's rather natural to see outlines of characters, objects, etc. But again the more you challenged yourself, you need or rather pay less and less attention to the hard outline. Alot of times especially if you are using color. You don't need need them.

Think of them like a tracing or guide. Use your line work to show initially where you want something but just know you don't have to keep them.

Anyway, hopefully this makes sense, 99% of the time I don't know exactly what I am going to say or where I want to take the story, if I want it to relate to the drawing posted..lol

The more I illustrate, especially over the years it's less about the technical aspects of the drawing and more about what I draw.

Now in this case it's purely what someone else envisioned. But I have always thought of artist and illustrations as bringing things to life. As an artist you aren't limited to what's real or not, what's in front of your or not, or even if it's possible or not.

Exploration and imagination is something that made me initially start drawing. Anyway, to my young artists out there you'll learn the "rules" to drawing enough to where you'll pick and choose which rules to bend and when to break them entirely.

Anyway..go draw something..and always find ways to challenge yourself.

Growing up, I used to think if I don't finish, I wouldn't be able to go back to the same artwork.
It just felt weird.

It was funny looking back because you could see where I started and about where I would get tired in my art. Then as I started getting older and taking on more difficult art to recreate, I eventually had to stop and go back at it another day.

To me creating art is such a mental challenge the more you do it. I thiknk less and less about line work, messing up, proportions, etc. Now it's more about how can I incorporate what I already know with what I am learning.

Either way, I would say as a you get further in your art style/career you constantly have to find ways to challenge yourself.

Well that's all I have today...really doesn't have a lot to do with the art I posted but as always I love showing the process. Start to finish...keep sketching...keep growing.

Just working behind the scenes. You have to get the book to see the conversation, sorry...I just wasn't trying to spoil anything. But, was looking through some previous work and me and have worked on believe like 3 books or so. Shout out to him, congrats on this one as well. My process really doesn't change whether I'm doing client work or a personal project.

I always sketch out stuff, now I'll admit I do more in my head for personal projects than paid ones, but for the most part it boils down to 3 steps.

Step 1:
Narrow down ideas "in head or on paper".

Step 2:
Placement/construction..."where you put things is just as important as what you put down".

Step 3:
Refinement. Some say you're never truly done with art, you just get tired and quit. But, I would say "where ever is a comfortable stopping/completion point for you, your client, or whomever is the goal".

I've changed what I do more times than I can count, however I never will truly stop being an artist, creative, whatever you prefer as far as a title..😅

It's what I do and apart of who I am, so to the next new generations of creatives...just keep working at it. It's a gift that can keep giving if you learn how to continuously improve upon it.

So the final piece is officially complete. However my journey doesn't stop.

After doing quite a few covers, and illustrations of you name it, it just clicked for me than I need continue to get better in other areas. There is always another level, and you can do more.

But yea, not going to say too much in this post but checkout book, it's a good read and you can see all the illustrations in there and not just the ones I posted 😅.

I love showing the outline, to show what I'm thinking about or how things were built.

Today isn't really any different. But as this series of drawings comes to a close and a new one begins, think about the intention behind what you do and why you choose to display it in such a way.

I set up most of my artwork with a similar structure. For my artist out there, what is your structure for how you set things up when you draw, paint, etc?

Even when I use my own process, I still tweak it...and that's with knowing what to do.
So to all my artists out there learning and constantly judging themself or feel like they're not good enough...please stop.

Doubt and fear will never really push you like you think, if anything it will destroy the verything you want or learning to do. But, this is one of the main characters, check out the book. Definately a fun project to work on and yea...I'll leave it at that today!

This is one of the main characters in this story, definately was fun to take someone else's vision and expand upon it. which is probably one of the best feelings in terms of custom art.

I don't really have any long, deep, responses today talking about something or the process in creating it.

however I am thinking about bringing back, traditional black and white art...you know with a real pencil and pad..😅

you can do so much with digital that it's just not possible to achieve the same levels or do as much as you can with digital..but yea not a 100% sure.

If not, definately will be showing more animations on this page. Anyway this getting long for no reason, hahah so check it out, let me know what you think and share, like, all that good stuff!
