AUDITIONS!

Stage Right Theatrics is seeking actors for a Tennessee Williams full-length play, “A House Not Meant to Stand” (1982), as part of our annual “Before They Were Gods” program.

Performances are October 16-18 at the Abbey Theater of Dublin. Directed by Sandra Cooperman.

“A House Not Meant to Stand” is Tennessee Williams’ late‑career Southern Gothic comedy of decay—a storm‑battered night in a collapsing Mississippi house where a family’s moral rot is laid bare.

Characters to be Cast:
• Cornelius McCorkle: (Male, 50-70) A domineering, corrupt, self‑righteous patriarch. He clings to money, control, and the illusion of moral superiority.
• Bella McCorkle: (Female, 50-70) Cornelius’s wife, mentally fragile but emotionally perceptive. She drifts in and out of lucidity, yet her moments of clarity cut through the family’s lies.
• Charlie McCorkle (Male, 25-40s) Their estranged son, returning home after years away. He’s burdened by guilt, resentment, and a sense of failure.
• Stacey (Female, 20-30’s) Charlie’s pregnant girlfriend. Practical, grounded, and unpretentious, she becomes an unexpected catalyst for truth.
• Emerson Sykes: (Male, 50-70) A local political figure and Cornelius’s ally. Represents the corruption and hypocrisy of the town’s power structure.
• Jessie Sykes: (Female, 50-65) A local busybody and churchgoing moralist whose piety is mostly performance. She represents the judgmental, gossip‑driven community that surrounds the McCorkle family.
• Various other characters: Doctor, Two Men, Police Officer
These are paid, non-union positions.

Auditions will consist of readings from the scripts—no monologues required!

Stage Right Theatrics is proud to announce the second year of our "Before They Were Gods" initiative! This year, we celebrate the genius of Tennessee Williams by presenting two of his early one-act plays, written before he was a household name.

The plays are "Summer at the Lake" (1937) directed by Sandra Cooperman and starring Veronica Heer, Leslie Robinson, and Nathaniel Lee; and "The Pink Bedroom" (1938) directed by Ambre Emory-Maier and starring Beth Ann Boswell and Scott Nelson.

Aside from the two plays, we will offer a presentation about the life and career of Tennessee Williams. And, as always, we will have an audience talkback after the shows!

Performances will be March 27 & 28 at 7 PM and March 29 at 1 PM at the Abbey Theater of Dublin.

Tickets are on sale now at https://stagerighttheatrics.ticketspice.com/stage-right-theatrics-presents-before-they-were-gods-tennessee-williams

Tickets are $20 per person for in-person seating or per streaming device for virtual viewing. We offer discounts for seniors (60 +), students, veterans, and first responders.

Stage Right Theatrics is proud to announce its 10th annual theatre festival!

At each performance, we will present four short plays by writers from across the country:

• "All Packed" by Curtis Miller (CA), directed by Veronica Heer: A couple comes to grips with a coming pandemic while the audience benefits from a five-year head start.

• "(Not the) Metamorphosis" by Mary Poindexter McLaughlin (FL), directed by AJ Howell: Based on a 1920s “New York Times” article about the first woman to undergo plastic surgery, the play is inspired by Franz Kafka's classic story.

• "The One" by Stuart Brown (CT), directed by Stacy Zuberi: In the not-too-distant future, A.I. has taken over the educational system of the country. Adrian and Maddie fret about what this is doing to their son.

• "Safe Space" by Matthew Greene (TN), directed by Alyssa Ryan: A college professor and HR go head-to-head in a space deemed safe from unwanted thoughts or ideas.

Performances are Jan. 30 & 31 at 7:30 PM and Feb. 1 at 1:30 PM at the Abbey Theater of Dublin (5600 Post Rd. Dublin, OH 43017).

Tickets are $20 each for in-person tickets or per device for live-streaming tickets and are available here: https://stagerighttheatrics.ticketspice.com/stage-right-theatrics-tenth-annual-festival
