Open Call! We’re seeking participants for Mill Race Monster Festival, happening October 23–25 in Columbus, Indiana.

We are looking for artists, vendors, performers, speakers, activity hosts, and community organizations to help bring the festival to life. Spooky, mysterious, cryptid-inspired, and Mill Race Monster–themed ideas are especially encouraged.

There are many ways to be involved – be sure to select the right application!

Before the Mill Race Monster became a local legend, it was front-page news.

In the summer of 1974, newspapers documented eyewitness accounts of a strange creature reportedly seen along the East Fork White River. The stories spread quickly, drawing curious locals, skeptics, and brought monster hunters to Columbus. It even sparked the largest monster hunt in US history.

Whether you believe it was an undiscovered animal or simply a story that grew with every retelling, one thing is certain—the legend has been part of our community for over 50 years.
