2 years, 43 collaborators, and countless 5am bedtimes later, it is finally out. I poured every last bit of my heart and soul into this album and it really expresses me in a better way than I ever could in a conversation. Please give it a listen! This album has been the most ambitious, daring, and personal endeavor I've ever embarked upon, and I think it's safe to say it is truly a synthesis of everything that I've loved, been, and become over the past two years. I think back to the time I was in my "tweens" and early teens, when I was scared to grow up. I just wanted to stay a little kid but I was embarrassed about it. There came a time after that where I started to curb my childlikeness and put my fascination with imaginary worlds to the side. But in my latest phase of life I've realized that all I really care about is believing in the hope, warmth, and fellowship so powerfully shown in all the best fantasy stories. Fantasy may not be real but it is the most real way to externalize the monumental feelings we hold inside. It is not only the most dazzling and beautiful form of escapism, but it also colors the mundanity of the everyday in a way that cannot be erased. To me, it's become essential to carry the classic stories in my heart every day.
For those who don't know, "Into the West" is a very direct reference to the end credits song from The Lord of the Rings. The title is not referring to our world's geographical west, but rather the fantastical "Undying Lands" lying west across the sea, where several of the main characters sail at the end of the story to rest in eternal peace after their transformative ordeals. I also chose this title because the sun sets in the west and I really wanted it to feel like "sailing into the sunset" was not only alluding to Tolkien's story, but also to our personal duty to move forward into the rest of our lives with newfound peace and wonder, returning to our childhood essence. The album takes us on a journey similar to that of our favorite characters, but our journey will be about remembering the simplicity of that essence, feeling the powerful nostalgia and even loss that it evokes, and letting it paint our grown-up world anew. I can't wait for you to sail with me 🌅

These are all the lovely faces of the people who played on The Little Teal House. 15 musicians, 18 instrumental parts, and 9 months of remote recording after an initial rhythm section session back in sunny March (pictured in the center-right of this collage) ! All of it mixed and mastered (painstakingly so) by yours truly :)
I couldn't be more grateful for all of these people's contributions, and it truly moves me that we were somehow able to pull off something so ambitious and match my vision so well despite the countless obstacles ❤
