I thought I would share the progression from start to finish of the fur suit head I made for Falyn’s Halloween costume. She told me she wanted help making a mask that looked like a Siberian Husky with an internet reference she saw. She needed help carving foam for a nose. I agreed to help and it wasn’t turning out to look like a dog. I said, it can’t be that hard to make one of these for real, and I will forever eat those words.

I watched a YouTube video and bought the foam it suggested. I started making the mask/head on 8/1/24. Fully committed, I realized how much harder this was than it looked but I kept on trying. I completed the costume on 10/30/24, working intermittently on the weekends with it.

She loved it so much and I’m proud to say I made this all myself, minus the 3D printed teeth I found on Etsy. I now understand why people pay thousands for these suits. It’s insanely hard work. I had blisters from burning myself with hot glue, a thousand pin pricks, and I should not be trusted with an exact-o knife.

Thanks for looking! I will never do this again. Props to the creators out there that make it look easy enough to fool me. 🐶

I made cup cozies for the awesome team of vet techs and assistants I work with for Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week. 🐱🐶🐰
They turned out great and the patterns were simple! I modified the ears on one to make a rabbit and some colors to another for a German Shepherd. I found the patterns on Etsy from creator Handmadify Design. 🧶
