Our 6th Annual Catskills Company Camp was a huge success! 🍀

Every summer, we kick off performance season by spending the week training, rehearsing, and preparing for the exciting year ahead, especially our feature-length theatre production, Celtic Storm. A huge thank you to all of our instructors, and especially our incredible director, Maureen Berry, for the passion, dedication, and countless hours you pour into making this camp and our company so special.

Of course, camp isn’t just about dancing! This week’s highlights included our annual spoons tournament, pub gigs, pool time, the rock wall, theme nights, team bonding, a drumming workshop with Jimmy Kelly, and plenty of laughs along the way.

A heartfelt thank you to Gavin’s Irish Country Inn for your wonderful hospitality year after year. We can’t wait for an amazing performance season ahead! 💚

STEPDANCE ARTIST FEATURE: AGI KOVACS 🌟

Agi Kovacs is a Hungarian native who began her dance career at the Hungarian National Ballet Institute where she was trained in classical ballet, Hungarian folk, and historical dance styles. In 1994 she emigrated to the US and about 22 years ago she started up her professional percussive dance career again. Agi has been performing and touring the states and abroad over the years and she makes a point to only perform to live music.

One of her passions is to collaborate with different genre artists. Agi believes it’s important to keep these traditions alive by making it accessible to all. She loves to teach and explore the connections between genres and her own connection to music. Her versatile knowledge of percussive dance includes Old style Irish (Sean Nos), Scottish, English, Tap, Cape Breton, Clogging, and Flatfooting (just to name a few). She is practically a drummer with her feet!

Agi is so excited to collaborate with the amazing dancers of Teelin Irish Dance Company and present a unique choreography pairing traditional Hungarian folk and Irish dance rhythms.
