The Lonesome Companions are performing at Art in the Park!

Art in the Park is the first weekend of June in Stephens Lake Park in Columbia.

Local to Columbia and Boonville, the Lonesome Companions come together to play heartfelt music and share the joy of creative expression through exploration of traditional acoustic folk and bluegrass. Their original compositions incorporate imagery from intimate life and the natural world, featuring melodic textures supporting vocal harmonies that warm the heart and excite the spirit.

Having entertained crowds at the Lupus Chili Fest, Columbia Farmer’s Market, Big Muddy Folk Festival, and Fall Into Art, the Lonesome Companions are pleased to add Art in the Park to their live performance resume. TLC have entertained Missouri River Relief volunteers along the banks of the Missouri River near Jefferson City and Clean Up Boonville volunteers at the old train depot in Boonville, as well as patrons of Cooper’s Landing in McBaine and the Meriwether Cafe in Rocheport.

The Lonesome Companions are currently working on final mixes of their very first collection of music, to be titled: The Lonesome Companions: Together Again.

The January Lanterns are performing at Art in the Park!

Art in the Park is Sat & Sun, June 4 & 5, in Stephens Lake Park.

The January Lanterns - think Phoebe Bridgers lyrics meets Bon Iver backing tracks and The Paper Kites harmonies – is made up of husband-wife duo, Andrew and Kristen Camp. The Missouri-based pop folk band started in 2017 after Andrew and Kristen forged a new path to save their marriage. They started writing songs and used music as a form of therapy and as a way to fall back in love. The project started small and now they are continuing to grow their music career and their love for each other.

The January Lanterns released their first full-length album called, For the Kids, When They’re Older, in January 2022, available online: https://open.spotify.com/album/53wbOm0oQtI3SjK6G9ICkK.

The January Lanterns plan to continue to set the sky ablaze with their new music and their message of love.

Art in the Park is Saturday & Sunday, June 4 & 5 in Stephens Lake Park. Free & open to the public! One of the musical acts performing is the Calvin Street Band.

The Calvin Street Band is an acoustic quartet (Greg Gortmaker, bass; David Neely and Robert Wallace, guitars; Erica Joy Kallis, fiddle) from Columbia, MO. Calvin Street intermingles an array of toe-tapping and hip-swaying genres (gypsy swing, blues, folk, classic French song, jazz standards) about love, winemaking, nature, and life in Missouri.

Calvin Street’s songwriting has been a collaboration between guitarists/singer-songwriters, David Neely and Robert Wallace. The Calvin Street Band can be found at various breweries, wineries, restaurants, and music venues throughout Central Missouri.

Musical entertainment at Art in the Park is organized by Roots N Blues.

Sifa Bihomora, a 23-year-old Rwandan/American singer from Columbia, Missouri, has always had a passion for music and bettering the world. In fact, Sifa’s name means “to lift up,” and her energetic and zealous performances do just that. Sifa sees music as the breath of life, and artists like Nina Simone, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and other powerful women have filled her lungs.

Sifa has been on tour, attended Berklee School of Music (where she won the Best Song Writer award), and has sold out many venues all over the country. Sifa is also helping build the African Music Scholars foundation, where aspiring African musicians are awarded scholarships to come to prestigious music schools in America.

Art in the Park is Saturday & Sunday, June 4 & 5, in Stephens Lake Park here in Columbia. So many artists booths, entertainment, kids tents and activities, food and drink vendors, community, fun, a Veteran's Art Pavilion, a Young Collector's Pavilion, and art installations around the park!

Our five installations will be featured around the park for the entirety of the weekend: Lu Lyu's kinetic installation in the smaller pavilion on the lake, Claudia Martinez's installation near the children's activities, Sarah Nguyen's installation in the larger pavilion on the lake, Tavia Sanza's installation in the water on the lake, and Lisa Simm's installation near the west entrance of the festival.

Volunteer at Art in the Park!

We have a range of shifts and roles available to have a great time while helping to put on an amazing community arts festival. Shifts range from Friday, June 3 - Sunday, June 5, in two hour blocks, from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm (depending on the day). Duties and roles range all over the park! Golf cart drivers, water bar hosts, kids tent instructors, grounds crew, artist hospitality, tie dye, grounds crew, pavilion-specific hosting, and more!
