CALL FOR ENTRIES: May 2026 Arts Festival: DEADLINE March 15
The call for an artistic response to the insanity and brutality that has infected America has never been more urgent.
For the fifth production of the Arts Uprise Resistance Theatre, we’d like to consider some longer, deeper one-acts, up to 60 minutes long.
How to express resistance is up to you, but here are some possible themes to consider:
We the People
With liberty and justice for all
Truth unto its innermost parts
Fascism - living with it, under it, fighting it
Another Civil War?
Democracy or Oligarchy?
Globalism vs. isolationism
A future if resistance fails
New Original works (could have been staged once - known as a “second”, unpublished, and no adaptations of known works) are to be less than 60 minutes long and speak to the moment as you see it. Plays must be free of caveats and royalties, etc.
Submission Guidelines:
Plays must be written by playwrights living in Colorado. Playwrights who have been previously produced by Craft Production Resource (or the Uprise) and have moved away are also eligible to submit.
Plays must be fully developed with: a strong structure, well-developed characters and dialogue, conflict, and a commitment to a unique point of view.
Single Set - minimal set pieces, props and simple light and sound plots
60 minutes production time or less (45 to 60 pages)
All plays are to be in script format, double spaced and at least size 12 font, only the play's title on the script. Best to use a playwriting software.
Playwrights must be open to workshopping their accepted works.
Plays will only be accepted via this survey. You will be asked to upload a digital copy of your work. If for some reason you are unable to complete the file upload, please indicate as much in the survey.
Submissions will be accepted through MARCH 15
Please share the survey with anyone you feel might be interested! All submissions will be read and top favorites will be chosen for production. Playwrights will be notified ASAP as we are hoping to get casting and rehearsing started by the end of March.
Uprise 5 will happen at the Millibo Arts Theater at the end of May (dates TBA).
This portion of The Arts Uprise will be produced by Craft Production Resource Theatre, with co-artistic directors Kathy Paradise, MJ Hafter, and Warren Epstein.
