The WTRSHD Presents"Fluctuating Currents"A Solo Exhibition of Large-Scale Abstract Paintings by Judy Donovan
Artist Reception Saturday June 20th from 3-5 pm
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PETALUMA, CA — May 26, 2026 — The Watershed (WTRSHD) in Petaluma is pleased to announce "Fluctuating Currents," a solo exhibition featuring the large-scale abstract paintings of Judy Donovan. Opening June 5th and running through August 29th, 2026, at The Watershed’s First Street Gallery, this showcase invites viewers into a rhythmic exploration of color and movement.
The exhibition captures the intersection of natural energy and instinctive gestures. Donovan’s process bypasses conscious thought, allowing a shifting flow to dictate the application of line and pigment. These thoughtful paintings alternate between frantic, erratic strokes and smooth, melodic patterns, creating a visual language that mirrors the pulse of the environment. Curator Robin Reiners notes that the exhibition is uniquely suited for the First Street Gallery, as the scale and movement of the work mimic the grasses, river, and vital energy flowing both inside and outside the warehouse walls.
Artist Judy Donovan will be available for an Artist’s Reception on June 20th from 3-5pm. Accompanying the exhibition, Nancy Tyler and Elyce Ostermann of Flute Fusion will perform a curated selection of classical compositions and contemporary melodies, including an array of evocative musical covers. The WTRSHD Galleries are open for viewing Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm and Saturday 10am -4 pm. All featured artworks are available for acquisition.
