Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a quick update and let you know that we won’t be set up at the Covered Bridge Festival this year.
This was a really hard decision, but it's the right one for us right now. Between Barry’s cancer coming back and needing to focus on his upcoming bone marrow transplant, and my own health taking a hit with a really severe POTS flare-up we just can't make the festival happen this season. We definitely aren't using everything going on as an excuse; we're truly just navigating a lot right now.
It breaks my heart not to see you all, and we are so incredibly grateful for the support and excitement you’ve already shown.
While we are missing the festival, we are hoping to open up the Porch Bakery sometime this winter! The exact timing depends entirely on when Barry gets released after his transplant and how recovery goes, but we are aiming for it.
We are already looking forward to next year and hope to come back stronger than ever.
Thank you all so much for understanding and for being such an amazing community. We hope you have a wonderful fall.

Big Updates at Chunky & Chic!
If things have been quiet around here, it's because well , LIFE has been “lifing” as I know you all get…and my hands and arthritis definitely don't appreciate the detailed cakesicle work like they used to! I am used to making intricate details and kneading dough, which is a lot on arthritic hands… SO… we are transitioning to the business I actually should have started with. My real love: brownies

Here is what you can expect moving forward:

The Menu: While a few cakesicles will still be available here and there, I am not solely focusing on them anymore. Moving forward, it will be a brand new weekly seasonal menu—mostly gourmet brownies, breads... whatever I’m making at the time. And of course, I will continue to take orders for certain events.
The Schedule: Until Barry is completely squared away and past the worst of things probably later this year/ in early spring, bakes will be a bit hit-and-miss. Until then, we'll keep updates rolling, keep the cart out front when we can between doctor appointments, etc., with the ultimate goal of transitioning fully to opening up the porch bakery! It might be sporadic at first, but we will keep on keeping on! God has us!
The Porch Bakery & Mission: A huge thank you to everyone for your incredible food donations! That mission is staying right where it is: bring a non-perishable food donation to help feed the hungry, and get a "smile cookie" on the house. Feeding our community always comes first.
Covered Bridge Festival: I am still keeping my festival commitments, so come see me there! I’ll be in Mansfield in the Civic Center! Booth 77!!
