Rodgers Instruments congratulates a new owner of an Imagine 351 organ! The owner sent us this testimonial:

Seven years ago the Hammond A100 that I grew up with (since I was 😎 was starting to have some serious troubles. I play a Rodgers 905B at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville and love the sound quality. So, I replaced my home Hammond with a two-manual Rodgers 558. And now, wanting to have more capabilities, more stops and 3 manuals, I have upgraded to the Imagine 351 for my home. The capabilities of this organ are far and above what I was anticipating. Pipe voices have significantly improved and so have the orchestral sounds. Having 3 manuals at home is going to make it easier to practice music that I use at church. St. Bernard's Rodgers 905B organ has an MX200 and the orchestral voices that I usually use are found on the 351 without any additional sound module. It is a joy to experience and play this new instrument. I look forward to many happy years exploring all that this instrument has to offer.

Bruce Wagner home, Stewartville, MN

We commend Mr. Wagner's choice of Rodgers and we also congratulate Peggy Bartunek of Rodgers Classic Organs, our dealer for Minnesota, North and South Dakota, and western Wisconsin.

We look forward to "Hazel's" triumphant return, but will have to wait a bit longer.

To our donors and friends of Christ Cathedral Music,

Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our audience, guests, world-renowned artists and organ builders, we have decided to officially cancel the currently scheduled January 2021 Rededication Events and subsequent Rededication Concert Series for the Hazel Wright Organ. Current ticket holders will receive a refund within the coming days.

We all continue to look forward to Hazel's triumphant return with great anticipation! In the meantime, subscribe to our Christ Cathedral Music page for all the latest news about upcoming musical events on this campus, including the announcement for the new dates of the historic rededication celebrations for the Hazel Wright Organ.

All the best and stay safe,

Our Story

Central Music is a Florida corporation that began in 1958. It was founded by Les Trubey and its first location was opened on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, Florida (explaining the name). The late 1950s through the early 1980s represent the peak of the home organ industry in the United States. In its beginning, Central Music represented the Wurlitzer brand of home organs and pianos for the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Shortly after its founding, Central Music also became the dealer for Rodgers Instruments to serve the musical needs of the area’s churches. One of the most popular organs found in churches and homes alike is the Rodgers organ.

Central Music enjoyed great success with Wurlitzer. Due to this early success, Central Music was faced with a need for a larger location. It was also at this time that Les Trubey and Nelson Newby of Illinois became acquainted. In 1973, Trubey built a new home for Central Music – a 15,000-square-foot (1,400 m2) building at 5175 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, Florida 33760 (where Central Music still resides today). It was the first building along that stretch of highway, with pastures for dairy cattle on both sides. However, the area has grown up around Central Music with an international airport within 2 miles (3.2 km) and a new eight lane road in front of the building.

In 1977, due to health issues, Les Trubey decided to retire. Thru their mutual experience with Wurlitzer, Les Trubey decided to approach Nelson Newby, a proven salesman from Illinois. In November 1977, Nelson Newby with his wife Sharon and son Timothy moved to Florida and became Central Music’s new owners.

At that time, Central Music had three locations throughout the Tampa Bay area. These locations not only offered new and used instruments for sale but were also locations where private lessons and group lessons were available. Around 1980, Wurlitzer began to struggle due to challenges from competition, a worsening economy and what was the beginning of the decline to the home organ industry. To compensate, Central Music took on a new brand in the musical instrument field, Yamaha. Yamaha, quickly rose to prominence in both the piano and (albeit declining) home organ industries, and Central Music became a Top-10 dealership for Yamaha in the United States.

Although it had its roots in England, "Amazing Grace" became an integral part of the Christian tapestry in the United States. The Infinity Series 361 organ performs exquisitely and the sound reverberates beautifully through the charming St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Hudson, FL, USA. Rodgers would like to kindly thank Central Music and everyone else involved in the making of this video.
Rodgers Instruments is proud to have participated in this year’s National Association of Pastoral Musicians - NPM Convention at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, OH!
