About Clayton Community Theatre

The Clayton Community Theatre was founded in 1998 at the invitation of the Clayton School District to serve as the resident community theatre company at Clayton High School. CCT’s purpose then, as now, was to provide a vehicle for all members of our community to be involved in the production of top quality live theatre. Through its three annual productions and thro

ugh its program of community outreach, CCT has involved hundreds of individuals in productions that have played to consistently enthusiastic reviews and crowded houses. CCT believes that our successful history as a theatre company has proven that there is an important place in our community for a volunteer theatre company that is open to all and driven by a commitment to excellence. In the fall of 2006, CCT began operations in our new home on the campus of Concordia Seminary in Clayton (the former CBC High School building). In the fall of 2007 this property was purchased by Washington University in St. Louis, and is now known as the Washington University South Campus. The theatre is an outstanding 210-seat venue with handicap accessibility, elevators, and a lighted parking lot. CCT operates on the Washington University campus as an independent community theatre company and is not affiliated with the Washington University Performing Arts Department. Clayton Community Theatre is incorporated as a Missouri nonprofit corporation and is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Membership in the organization is open to any interested individual.

When (not if) you come to our production of Terms of Endearment July 23 - August 2, at Wash. U.'s A. E. Hotchner Studio Theatre at 6445 Forsyth, we want you to know where to park. We (and WU) recommend parking in Wash. U.'s nearby surface lots, or on the street along Forsyth: parking is free weekends and after 5 on weekdays. Just don't park in a section marked Red permit only - any other color is ok.

The rumors are true: after 20 happy years in our current building, our landlord has deemed the latest building system failure unfixable, so Clayton Community Theatre is without a home. We will present Terms of Endearment July 23 - August 2 as planned, but at a different location: the A. E. Hotchner Studio Theatre on Washington University's main (Danforth) campus, at 6445 Forsyth Blvd. And we have suspended sales of season tickets for future shows until we know more.

Please contact us if you know of a theatre we could use, or (perhaps even better) a space with parking, power, and HVAC that we could move into. We can bring most of what turns an empty room into a theatre, and we're willing to get creative. Send any suggestions to [email protected]
